Proud to be an equal opportunity employer.Job DescriptionThe Global Development Communication Leader is responsible for building and driving best-in-class in class communications for the Global Clinical Development Organization. This role will work independently to support organizational communications and partner closely with the Global Therapeutic Area Communications Leaders to provide strategic communications counsel to the Global Development organization and provide world-class communications.This role acts with a global mindset and works collaboratively to enhance the experience of clinical trial participation, builds trust and interest in Janssen clinical trials through awareness campaigns, drives Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in clinical trials communications and public affairs, mitigates issues, sets standards for operational and process excellence in GD communications, and ensures consistency in messaging. The individual will drive the overall communications strategy, messaging platform and reputation of Janssen as a leader in clinical trials and development.Key Responsibilities- Devise and execute internal and communication strategies to engage priority audiences about the benefits and value of GD strategies and initiatives (e.g. DEICT and clinical trials recruitment and experience).
- Devise and execute external communication strategies for high priority clinical trials; Align with the clinical trial teams, therapeutic area communications leaders, site managers and regional communicators and ensure consistently high experience across trials.
- Significant interaction, leadership, and alignment to help drive clinical development communications strategy, DEI in clinical trials strategy communications, and contribute to overall success and Janssen R&D reputation impact.
- Key lead in managing and mitigating reputational issues impacting Janssen clinical trial across therapeutic areas.
- Manage external partnerships including agencies, clinical trial subject matter experts, and industry communication work groups.
- Serves as a Company media contact for cross-TA clinical trials inquiries (not associated with specific products or diseases).
- Works as a team as part of the wider R&D communications team as required.
- Bachelors degree is required with a preference of study in the areas of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Journalism or closely related field
- 10+ years of experience managing communication in a healthcare company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Global attitude and successful record of working in a global function, with direct experience of leading on international projects, issues and teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, commercialization, and the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong eye for business with understanding of competitive and industry priorities that drive business and social value
- Ability to lead, encourage and coach project teams and individuals
- Ability to build relationships and influence partners
- Strong experience in developing multimedia content, audience segmentation and direct to consumer communications
- Demonstrated ability of managing priorities in a fast-paced, environment consumer communications
- Demonstrated ability of managing priorities in a fast-paced, environment
- Experience in managing budgets and prioritization across projects
- Exercise excellent judgment at all times
- Pharmaceutical industry experience
- Up to 20% domestic and international travel
