Description
The Global Material Management program brings visibility at the part level on overseas shipments moved in the Caterpillar network using the INFOR Nexus platform. Suppliers are ordering for the freight on this INX platform which allow the different team involved in the Cat network to manage the international freight while gathering milestones allowing to track each shipment.
International freight is a complex world with a lot of parties involved and hence, as the GMM Inbound lead for EU facilities, your job is to support facilities.
Within this position you are the key contact for EU facilities which means that you are representing the transportation group, centralising questions and queries and make sure facilities get the support needed.
This Support Means
- Training about the INX platform for material planners as well as daily support in regard to the use of INX as well as the tracking of shipments and supporting emergency shipments. Your key skill for this support is the patience and the capacity to adapt to the audience and to listen and understand difficulties incurred to find opportunities to keep improving processes
- Monthly meetings with facilities’ supply chain managers and material procurement supervisors to share GMM data (suppliers on boarding, volume, transit time) and discuss projects opportunities to reduce freight cost or inventory by reducing transit time. You need to be capable of listening and understand requests, manage expectations, convince a broader audience of projects opportunities. You are highly customer oriented while making sure you manage expectations not to jeopardize your organisation by accepting things which are not doable.
- Through business understanding and data analysis you generate projects ideas to reduce freight cost, inventory and improve processes. Once projects opportunities are identified by you or submitted by facilities; you are leading the projects, gathering the right people and performing analysis. You are also SME on regional projects or projects impacting all the regions. You are strong in analytics, capable of thinking differently and see defects as improvement opportunities. You are strong in change management to convince facilities and manage solutions’ implementation. You enjoy leading project as well as working as an SME to support projects.
You are working closely with all the regions and thus get to learn other cultures, processes, and way of working and as part of this International team you get to be the voice of the EU facilities for projects impacting all the regions.
You are passionate about your job, you deal well with changes and uncertainty, you enjoy “creating” your job by getting highly involved with facilities, generating projects ideas and supporting the business through good day as well as operationally complicated one.
