Your Profile

• Master in Electrical or electro-mechanical Engineering, Automotive is an asset.
• Strong interest in automotive, knowledge of power train and drive train system is an asset
• Experience (0-5years) or internship in an (automotive) R&D environment is an asset.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & spoken).
• Must be able to work independently, work from home and in office as a team
• Must be able to understand, analyse and make technical drawings & technical specifications.
• Must be able to manage their job and time, and work in a one to one relationship with diverse TME, TMC (Toyota Motor Cooperation JPN) engineers and European suppliers.
• Must be able to conduct basic engineering calculations (Electrical, simulation,…)
• Open personality able to work in an independent way, hands-on mentality, out-of-box thinking
• Required computer skills: 3D DWG software (e.g. Catia/Pro-E or other), Word, Excel, Power-point
• Owner of a driving license

Team/division Description

Your team and your responsibilities

Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements. R&D aims to strengthen the Toyota in Europe.

TME Drivetrain & Hybrid Design Departments’ Responsibilities Are

Design & evaluation of Hybrid T/M, mechanical and electrical parts. The team’s task is to improve T/M’s in the power train system in order to optimize fuel consumption, cost, weight of vehicles as well as improving their drivability.

Local development of drivetrain parts for vehicles built in one of Toyota’s European assembly plants. This activity is done in close cooperation with our local suppliers and our mother divisions in Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan. TMC relies on us to develop components that are matching European customers’ expectations and European suppliers’ production methods.

Investigation of new European technologies. After investigation we make and propose concepts for application in future vehicle projects.

Your Responsibilities

You will contribute to TOYOTA drivetrain system improvement for European market.

You will challenge design for future TOYOTA driveability development.

As engineer in Drivetrain & Hybrid design div., your main responsibility will be :

• The development of Electrical Hybrid Drivetrain components. The electrical components are the electrical motors and all its side components.
  

During the prototype phase, you drive the development process of locally-developed parts. You need strong engineering skills to support the suppliers in their development. You make sure the development is finished on time and meets all Toyota’s requirements. For parts developed in Japan, you are the liaison between our mother divisions in TMC and other European parties (assembly plants, suppliers)

During the production preparation, you make sure production parts achieve expected performance levels and support the plant in assembly of your components

• To investigate new European advanced technologies in your responsible area. You have to research upcoming EU technologies, initiate pre-development studies, and propose the technology for application in Toyota’s future vehicle.
