At UCB, we recently announced the construction of an innovative and environmentally sustainable multi-product biological manufacturing facility on our site in Braine-l’Alleud. This new biotechnology plant is being constructed to accompany the company’s growth strategy and to prepare for the launch and for the long-term supply of future medicines that are currently in clinical development. This aims to contribute directly to drive our global ambition of improving the life of patients suffering from rare diseases.

The new facility, representing an investment of more than 300 million euros over the coming years, is expected to be operational in 2024. Construction and equipment installment is well on its way for starting up in the first quarter of 2022.

The biotechnology plant will be one of the largest and most modern in Belgium.

To strength the team currently in charge of the project deployment going from design to execution and testing, we are looking for a Head of Bioprocess Engineer InfleXioto actively participate to the new plant launch.

As a Head of Bioprocess Engineer for commercial production, you like to work in an environment where you can:

• 
  Lead a team of bioprocess engineers
• Take the lead on new projects and support the production team for technical troubleshooting, data’s analysis, introduction of new technology (continuous improvement) and new product (link with transfer process and MSAT)

As aHead of Bioprocess Engineer for commercial production you will contribute by:

• 
  Actively participating to the start-up of new multiproduct facility
• Being the ambassador of UCBs commercial manufacturing processes
• Aggregating, leveraging and coordinating the scientific knowledge acquired by our development organization to make UCB manufacturing processes best in class
• Working with the network of Bio experts in Bio within UCB and its industry network

Interested? For this position you’ll need the followingeducation, experience and skills:

• 
  Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Biochemical Engineering or related discipline
• At least 10 years of experience in running, designing or supporting cell-based manufacturing activities of biologics drug substances at industrial scale
• Sound knowledge of technologies and unit operations involved in upstream and downstream bio processing
• Practical experience with technology transfers, scale-up/Scale-down and optimization of processes
• Engaged, enthusiastic and passionate spirit, able to drive others
• Excellent organization and project management skills
• Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written
