Role Purpose:

The role’s purpose is to support employee lifecycle activities, and implementation of global HR projects, on a local level in Belgium and Sweden. An expert in Belgium HR operational practices and employment law, and an interest to learn about HR in Sweden (if no experience already), this role is a source of specialised local HR and Market knowledge and insight. Responsible for actively rolling out programmes and initiatives within their function(s) and country(ies), working in collaboration with the other HR functions, and business areas, to deliver seamless HR operations service.


Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with business and global HR stakeholders to provide local operational HR support to ensure that the business needs can be met whilst remaining legally compliant in Belgium and Sweden.
  • Responsible for ensuring the operational elements of all key people processes are delivered (e.g. onboarding, performance management and discipline, reward and recognition, employee engagement, day to day employee management, employee relations, employment termination, payroll inputs).
  • Seek to create efficiencies and automation across HR Operations to maximise customer satisfaction, enhance productivity and minimise errors.
  • Manage the relationship with the members of the Senior Management teams, CPBW, EWC members and local union representatives.
  • Lead on local Employee Relation matters working in partnership with legal counsel.
  • Provide advice to business and HR stakeholders on local Employment law for BE and SE.
  • Keep up to date with legislation and legal changes in the countries, advising when changes will happen and working with legal counsel as required to assess the impact
  • Collaborate with HR Colleagues across all specialisms on the delivery of various global HR initiatives to drive business change and increase employee engagement

Core Responsibilities

  • Attend relevant SMT and employee representative meetings, contributing ideas and input as required.
  • Coordinate fleet management in the region (75 company cars) (HR related tasks only)
  • Payroll HR data input. Provide data to the central payroll team and review and finalise the HR reports for payroll
  • Coordinate all joiner and leaver processing activities for employees in-country (benefits registration)
  • Manage pensions processing activities for relevant countries, including monthly checks. Support process improvement in this area to reduce risk and improve accuracy.
  • HR data review, clean up and ongoing data management with HRIS and Global HR Services.
  • Provide country specific data, ideas, context and local knowledge to central HR teams to influence central HR projects
  • Work with the HR Service Centre team to respond to employee queries raised via the HR employee self service portal “AskHR”

Key Skills & Experience

  • Requires solid experience as HR practitioner, ideally in an international HR operations environment as this is a matrix HR structure with international teams
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (French language also desirable)
  • Robust, hands-on, resilient, approachable and diplomatic with the confidence to converse with people at any level
  • A strong customer service focus and drive
  • Capacity to deal with a wide range of stakeholders with conflicting priorities
  • Proficient knowledge on local employment law in Belgium (Sweden can be learnt)
  • Strong networking ability across the company at all levels
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate initiative, influence and problem solving skills
  • High level of passion, drive and enthusiasm for HR
  • High sensitivity and awareness of working with people of many cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Project management skills, particularly with respect to organisation, prioritisation, and time management
