What does this job entail?

KBC Securities is an exciting employer that can offer interesting professional challenges and career prospects to its employees and further leverage the various related activities within the KBC Group in Belgium and Central and Eastern Europe.

KBC has its own venture capital fund (= KBC Focus Fund) that focuses on companies from Nanotechnology, Microelectronics, IoT,.... Through equity investments, KBC takes a stake in the company and helps it grow. KBC Securities acts as a manager of the KBC Focus Fund.

In order to further develop the 50 million euro fund and to analyze, structure and follow up on investment opportunities, we are looking for an Investment Manager.

What do we expect from you?
  • Looking for the most interesting target companies in a 300 km radius around Belgium;
  • Analyzing the Business Plans (pitches, desktop research, expert calls, financial modeling);
  • Call upon internal and external competencies to make an assessment of the business, the team, the financials, the market, the customers, the product, IP,...;
  • In case of a positive assessment the drafting of an investment memorandum and presenting it to the team and the Investment Committee (IC) and the Board of Directors(BOD) of the fund;
  • If a green light from the IC and BOD, further coordinating a complete due diligence and drafting the investment documents, this in collaboration with our legal department;
  • Reporting regularly on the Dealflow and portfolio;
  • Liaising with other Venture Capital funds, investors,...;
  • Continuous self-development within your own areas of expertise;
  • Taking on the role of director in the participations and from there help determine the strategy of the portfolio companies;
  • Managing the participations and ensuring that all administration related to the participation is according to the standards (including reporting on the status of the portfolio at the meetings of the IC)
  • Preparing the valuations of the fund’s holdings and discussing them with the IC and BOD;
Your key strenghts?
  • You are in possession of a master degree in engineering;
  • You preferably have additional training (MBA,...) or a specialization in the technical field;
  • You have at least 5 years of experience, preferably as a specialist in nanotechnology, microelectronics or IOT, or as an analyst/investment manager for a venture capitalist;
  • You have a perfect knowledge of Dutch, French and English. German is a plus;
  • You are analytical and commercially minded;
  • You are creative and have strong organizational skills;
  • You actively build your network within the ecosystem;
  • Working independently is not a problem for you;
  • You work in a precise and organized manner. You are bubbling with energy and know how to get things done.
