For our client in Genk we are looking for an IT System Engineer.

The IT system engineer for R&D and Industrial is responsible for maintaining and supporting all R&D and industrial systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime. This position is the primary technical contact for R&D, engineering, quality and prototype production to IS&S: providing continuous improvement in processes, infrastructure and R&D systems.

He/she will be also one of the R&D centre representative and pilot for the digital manufacturing solutions to interface with Industrial central, IT core team, plant automation etc.

Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints. Unusual hours may be required on an occasional basis.

Responsibilities
  • The IT Systems Engineer is responsible to deploy and validate the solutions proposed by R&D and industry core team from division
  • Measure and quantify the risks of setting up a new solution
  • Centralize and capitalize data to ensure feedback and continuous improvement
  • Provide training to key users by department
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and fine tune the R&D solution between software and hardware
  • Cost control during the project phase
  • He/she also must adhere to corporate IS&S standards while assisting in planning, organizing and coordinating the information -systems of the facility to ensure standardization throughout the organization
Activities

Provide first level support to end user IS&S environment like PC, OS, telephone and software issues on a daily basis.

Manage IT solutions (first / second level) related to R&D/engineering/quality/digital manufacturing applications in order to increase the efficiencies of the R&D facility, including monitoring, troubleshooting, problem solving and upgrading to ensure the availability and performance of applications/database utilized by the plant systems
  • Integrate, test, validate the applications proposed by the central team before deployment
  • Provide feedback of end users with data, in a defined and structured format
  • Improve and maintain R&D IS&S systems, including rollout, operate and upgrades of the application itself based on customer or editor’s roadmap.
  • Provide required data analysis of business information to management team to enable them to make informed business operational decisions.
  • A force of proposal to propose solutions and evolutions of the R&D tools.
  • Assist in supporting/maintaining all computer and communications hardware, software to ensure maximum reliability of the facility.
  • Deploy and maintain IS&S global infrastructure standards, policies and projects in the facility.
  • Maintain/update existing documentation
Your Profile
  • B.S. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Automation, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Engineer level - Bac + 5 or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the field of Research and development support
Skills
  • Knowledge of CAD workstations and software (CATIA, AutoDESK, Solidworks, etc): high
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server & Workstation, virtualization and cluster: high
  • Knowledge of MS SQL (administration / maintenance of database): high
  • Knowledge of Backup Systems (e.g. Veeam, HP Data Protector): high
  • Knowledge of Networking Essentials including troubleshooting and protocols (TCP/IP): high
  • Project management knowledge and experience: desired
  • Written and speaking Flemish and English: Must
  • Spirit of analysis and prioritization of tasks
  • Adaptability to changes and technological developments.
  • Good pedagogy and strength of proposal
  • Assist in training facility staff as needed
