ThermoVault, a scale-up company in an innovative niche market, is part of the Ariston Group, an industry group and global market leader in its sector (2.3 billion € revenue in FY2022). ThermoVault has developed an all-in software and hardware IoT platform for energy services that retrofits residential customers’ existing electric thermal appliances into energy-saving and lucrative grid-responsive energy storage devices. In this way, we currently control over 8 MW of storage in Belgium and France, with EU-certified Ecodesign savings between 12 and 28%. This innovative system saves energy at both consumer and electricity grid level and in addition the solution allows the integration of more renewable energies into the electricity market.

Given the enormous market potential and backed by its shareholders, ThermoVault is currently growing from 15 employees to 25 by the end of 2023 and is expected to double to 50 by end of 2024. In order to support the creation of tools to onboard and monitor the fast-growing pool of devices, we are looking for a motivated all-round IT profile to join our growing team.

Your responsibilities:

You build the IT tools that allow a correct installation and follow-up of the residential thermal appliances and their energy savings:

• Onboarding app: registration of devices in households, real-time tests of correct installation, end-user consent gathering
• Monitoring platform: visualisation of raw data and algorithm results, alarm system for real-time monitoring
• Internal API: used by all teams to access device configurations, service settings, etc.

More specifically, your activities include:

• building front-end and back-end solutions for internal and external needs
• integrating with external partners/platforms
• working in a software production environment and covering the CI/CD flow from feature design to production-grade deployment of your implementations.
• setting up on-off devices for proof of concepts and innovation projects

You will be collaborating with our IT and R&D departments on commercial and innovation projects on a European scale. You will work in a highly-motivated scale-up environment with a strong focus on delivering real-world solutions.

Your profile:

• You have a Master or Ph.D. in engineering or computer science
• You have experience in software development, preferably in Python
• Experience in a production software environment using cloud technologies is a bonus
• You have knowledge of: Linux, Python, Containers, Databases, CI/CD pipelines, Cloud architectures (micro-services, serverless, aws)
• You are able to translate real-world problems into structured software solutions
• You take ownership in your work and you manage your work autonomously
• You are a teamplayer who collaborates with our IT and R&D teams
• Knowledge on electricity markets and optimization is a bonus
• You are available to start in the upcoming months
• You are able to frequently visit our office in Leuven
