The European Payments Council (EPC) is seeking to recruit a Legal Adviser.

The EPC, representing European payment service providers (PSPs), supports and promotes European payments integration and development, notably the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), mainly through the development and management of pan-European payment and payment-related schemes (i.e. (instant) credit transfer, direct debit, proxy look-up, request-to-pay).

The EPC Secretariat provides managerial, editorial and administrative support for EPC’s activities and consists of a small, agile and dynamic team.
  • The Legal Adviser is expected to provide legal advice on Belgian law matters (contracts, governance, data protection, intellectual property).
  • The Legal Adviser also acts as secretary of the General Assembly and Board of the EPC and is in charge of all governance-related activities.
  • A successful candidate must demonstrate good analytical, organisational and writing skills and be able to work largely independently.
  • As part of a small team, the Legal Adviser will need to show flexibility and willingness to become involved in the support of some business-groups, depending on resources availability.
  • A business- and solution-mindedness is a must.
Very good computer skills (office PC applications) are required as the position requires the handling of large and complex documents. The working language of the EPC is English, and very good written and spoken English is therefore essential.

Profile
  • Belgian law university degree
  • Min. 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Governance-related experience
  • Business-oriented
  • Very strong English language writing and speaking skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in payments or financial services is an advantage
  • Strong project management capabilities
