We are looking for a motivated and driven General Legal Counsel for Siemens Mobility sa – BeLux.The position will be carried out from Belgium (Huizingen & Brussels) - and supports the operational business with customersin Belgium and Luxemburg. We offer flexible teleworking options.

What will you be doing? 

• Lead the legal function in Belgium/Luxembourg
• Support legal matters in Belux for Siemens Mobility business units: Rolling Stock, Customer Services, Rail Infrastructure, Software
• Drafting, analyzing and negotiating contracts of the operational business with customers
• Manage corporate law matters for Siemens Mobility in Belux
• Supporting the execution of projects by contributing with legal know-how. Act as the trusted advisor
• Ensure effective legal risk management by addressing legal risks and opportunities and applying a legal and entrepreneurial perspective
• Answering daily legal questions or digging into specific legal issues, a new law or judgment
• Serving as a business partner for the claim and opportunity management
• Assisting and handling of corporate matters
• Manage local court cases and define the defense strategy. Involve external legal counsel when needed
• Fully integrate into and actively contribute towards the success of the Legal organization in Siemens Mobility sa.
• Contributing to the internal knowledge pooling and to give trainings on legal matters to Siemens employees.
• Report directly to the Head of Legal Region SWE within Siemens Mobility (disciplinary reporting to the CEO of Siemens Mobility BeNeLux)
  
  

What makes you the perfect candidate? 

• Fully educated Belgian lawyer with an excellent academic background
• Preferably completion of traineeship as a qualified lawyer with experience at a well-respected law firm or comparable experience of 5 years plus in the in-house legal department of an international company.
• You are really business minded
• Excellent knowledge of the Law regulating Contracts concluded by Public Bodies and public procurement law
• Excellent knowledge of contract law including complex works/system/infrastructure contracts; expertise in corporate law and litigation, law of intellectual property rights. Expertise in antitrust and technology transfer topics and knowledge of foreign law systems would be beneficial as well
• Proven leadership capabilities
• Good communication skills supporting the ability to explain complex legal and contract management matters
• Having contract drafting and negotiation skills
• Fluency in French and Dutch (both oral and written) is mandatory. English is important to.
• You describe yourself as a curious, openminded colleague who dares to ask tough questions
• Motivated, proactive, pragmatic, hands-on and positive person: you like to collaborate with national and international colleagues and bring a certain cultural sensitivity.
• You are flexible for business traveling for client visits/negotiations, trainings or other tasks.
