Your role:

As a member of the central MCOF Operations team you work in close collaboration with the 4 MCOF sites located in Izegem, Dresden, Zeewolde & Barcelona.

Together you de-/refine and steer the Continuous Improvement Program in line with the overall operation excellence strategy and business/factory needs. You coordinate key Operational Excellence projects and you support the factory stakeholders (operational excellence leaders, site manager, production manager,…) in executing the co-created local Continuous Improvement roadmaps.

As part of the operational excellence program, you drive the standardization and transfer of margarine and fat processing knowledge between central R&D, engineering and the local sites.

Together with the automation department and the local sites you coordinate the digital transformation of the business line MCOF.

You report directly to the Operations Director of the Business Line MCOF.

Your key responsibilities and challenges are:

Operational Excellence

  • Driving continuous improvement, you define, evaluate and introduce new insights, concepts, (digital) tools and methodologies into the program and how to implement these on the shopfloor.
  • You contribute in de-/refining and supporting, on a regular basis, the local site masterplan in cooperation with the site managers and ensure consistency of improvement projects and methods with the overall operation excellence strategy and the desired business needs.
  • In cooperation with the Site Leadership Team, you increase OpEx-skills and competencies by developing training programs. You support the local Operational Excellence leaders in using the right OpEx frameworks and tools.
  • You support local Kaizen Events from the stage of identifying and defining improvement opportunities, until establishing and sustaining the improvements.
  • By using your internal network, you accelerate local CI-programs. You exchange best practices and leverage and streamline local initiatives over the different sites and business lines. You set up learning and networking events.
  • In cooperation with all local site stakeholders, you deploy centrally developed Vandemoortele standards.
  • You monitor local action plans and report operational KPI’s on a monthly base. You participate in the site performance reviews, along with the Site Leadership Team, to identify further improvement opportunities.
  • You act as an ambassador in the development of an OpEx / Lean Culture. You enhance the cooperation and best-practice sharing between sites.

Processing

  • You act as the gateway between central R&D, engineering and operations in transferring knowledge of margarine and fat processing. Together you drive the industrial testing and implementation of newly developed concepts and systems, taking the interaction of recipes, technical installations and processing parameters into account.
  • You can translate these concepts and systems into a harmonized and standardized approach and roll them out over the different factories.
  • On the longer term you define with all stakeholders a set of recommendations regarding equipment dimensions and processing parameters per product category.
  • You establish an effective bidirectional communication between R&D and operations, making sure instructions are clear for operations and their feedback is gathered and linked back to R&D.
  • You enable the sharing of best practices regarding processing and use of supporting tools and information systems (Trendminer, PowerBi, SAP BW, …). You set up a learning and networking platform regarding processing.
  • You track and evaluate new systems and technologies and you coordinate the digital transformation of the business line.

About you

  • You hold a Master degree in Engineering or Science.
  • You have relevant experience in the processing industry, preferably food or feed, where a continuous improvement culture is embedded in the company culture. You are familiar with Lean management concepts like 5S, PCS, Kaizen, autonomous maintenance, …
  • As enhancing collaboration between different stakeholders is a key part of the role, you are a strong communicator with good influencing skills. You can connect, motivate and align people and create trustful relations.
  • You have well-developed analytical, conceptual, and synthetic skills.
  • You have a pragmatic and dynamic personality and a problem-solving attitude.
  • You take ownership and facilitate change. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, in English and Dutch. Other languages are an asset.
  • You are willing to travel frequently for short trips within Europe (up to 30-40%)
