A market-leading FMCG organisation is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Operations Director to lead its European Distribution Centre. This is a critical senior leadership role, responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring customer service performance, and delivering cost and quality targets across a complex, high-volume supply chain environment.

The Role

As Operations Director, you will oversee a large-scale complex distribution facility managing of circa 400 employees and an operational budget of circa 60m Euros.

You will be accountable for the full spectrum of site operations, including inventory management, distribution, engineering, facilities, and purchasing. As part of the EMEA Logistics Senior Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping long-term strategy while ensuring operational performance today.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse workforce, fostering a culture of engagement, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive efficiency and service levels through lean methodologies, process optimisation, and smart use of technology.
  • Manage financial performance and reporting, ensuring cost, quality, and service objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Represent the Distribution Centre in senior regional and global forums.
  • Oversee projects involving the design, procurement, and implementation of new distribution systems and equipment.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, inventory integrity, and best practice across all operations.

About You

We are looking for a seasoned distribution operations leader with:

  • A proven track record in senior operational managementin manual and automated distribution within FMCG or a related sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of distribution processes, ERP/WMS systems, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, drive change, and deliver measurable improvements in cost, service, and quality.
  • Proven strategic mindset combined with hands-on leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with fluency in English and business proficiency in French
