Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Process Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sint-Niklaas. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining chemical processes to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and product quality. This role requires a strong background in chemical engineering principles, process improvement, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

Process Design and Optimization:

  • Develop and design new chemical processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Health & Safety team to ensure a safe working environment.

Project Management:

  • Lead and support engineering projects from concept to implementation.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on schedule.

Process Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor plant performance and identify operational issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to resolve process deviations.
  • Use data analysis tools to track and improve process efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in chemical process engineering or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD).
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., REACH, OSHA).
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English
