Product Development Manager

The creation of a short line between demand, innovation, development up to production and processing is prior to them.

In order to further strengthen their organization we are looking for a Product Development Manager

You will be part of the Research and Development Department consisting out of: Purchasing, Quality, New Product Development, Graphical & Layout and EHS. You will manage, set-up and monitor (new product) development plans and formula changes, in accordance with the overall strategy of the company.

• You will oversee the entire product development life cycle: identifying opportunities, concept development, design, prototyping, testing (verification and validation), risk management, documentation & specification, etc.
• You will ensure that development projects are completed on time and within budget.
• You will embody a state of the art R&D culture, with focus on customer centricity, user experience, innovation, quality, etc.
• You will meet with vendors to search and discover for new/ alternative raw materials for improving existing products and NPD projects.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Marketing, Sales, Labo, etc.) to ensure a flawless development, integration and launch of new products. In addition, you will manage the relations with third party suppliers and academic partners.
• You will provide technical support to Sales & Marketing (documentation & specification, presentations to key customers, internal & external training, etc.).
• You monitor the look & feel of the products: packaging, product description, layout, graphics, etc. For which you receive support from 3 Graphic Designers.
• You stay up-to-date regarding new market trends and research evolutions (new raw materials, packaging, processes, etc.).
• You will manage a team of 3 direct reports and report directly to the Chief Product Officer (CPO).

• You have Master’s degree in Materials Science, Polymer/ Organic Chemistry, Chemical or Bio Engineering.
• You have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the Chemical, Automotive and/ or Construction Industry.
• You are able to translate market trends and opportunities into new products and launches.
• Strong project management experience with a solid stakeholder management skillset withing a fast-paced and innovation driven environment.
• You are a real people manager able to empower, coach, motivate, strengthen and activate your team.
• Able to create impact towards the “business” and challenge results.
• Fluent in Dutch and English. German and French are considered an asset.
• Flexible towards business travel: you will be working out of the HQ in Dessel, combined with home-office possibilities. You will travel on a regularly basis within Europe. max +/- 10 %.
