1. Your role

Are you a civil engineer with a passion for innovation and a curiosity for biology? Do you combine strong leadership with a drive to bring ideas from concept to market? Within the R&D department of Petersime we’re looking for a Team Leader to head our Incubation Team—a key role that bridges cutting-edge research with future-ready business applications.

In this role you will report to the R&D manager.

2. Job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the R&D Incubation Team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration with (independent) global incubation consultants
  • Coordinate inhouse lab tests, field trials at pilot customers, and scientific research activities at partner universities and institutes
  • Maintain an overview of all ongoing incubation projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
  • Serve as the bridge between technical development and business needs—translating early-stage findings into projects
  • Stay open to new technologies and ideas while maintaining focus on end-user value and product feasibility
  • Ensure high standards in project documentation, reporting, and evaluation

3. Your profile

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, preferably with a specialization in bioengineering, electro-mechanics, control technology, or related fields
  • Proven experience in people management and team leadership
  • Analytical and pragmatic, with a no-nonsense and hands-on mentality
  • Willingness to dive into biological systems and processes, even outside your core engineering background
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to “keep the end in mind” while embracing innovation
  • Willingness to travel (10-20%)
