We are currently looking for an R&D Software Engineer to contribute to the product development across the entire BricsCAD product family.

Responsibilities

As an R&D Software Engineer at Bricsys, you closely work with a small project team (3-5 engineers) in the lap of the R&D team (12 engineers). The job is very diverse. At Bricsys, we have an open software review culture. You will be working on challenging problems; in a good balance between new, innovative projects and continuously improving existing features.

Some examples of projects currently under development:

• A tool to assist users in creating 2D plans from 3D models. The challenges are in creating a flexible yet easy-to-use UI on the one hand and providing a meaningful 2D translation for 3D elements on the other. And it needs to be fast!
• A command to create a conceptual 3D building (with floor slabs, walls, and a roof) with a minimum number of clicks – just like in some computer games!
• An interference detection engine to detect hard and soft clashes between different sets of building elements, to spot problems when different disciplines come together, before construction starts.
• And about a dozen more!

By doing this, as an R&D Software Engineer, you will be part of a larger and international team that aims to develop an industry leading and very user-friendly product family for customers in the AEC, GIS, civil engineering, and mechanical CAD markets.

Qualifications

• Master or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or other (applied) sciences (or you can prove you are at this level in some other way).
• Limited professional experience (or equivalent by showing relevant personal/student work) with C++ (at least C++11)
• Ability to design and develop complex software.
• Strong mathematical insight (e.g., computational geometry, machine learning, probabilistic modeling, data mining).
• Ability to realistically plan your own work and work independently and reliably.
• Ability to coordinate your work with team members and to be open and honest in communication.
• Full professional proficiency in English. Dutch is advantageous but not essential.
• Knowledge of any of the following is a plus:
• C++11/14/17, boost, Object Oriented Design, Optimization, High Performance and Parallel computing
• Computer Aided Design (CAD), Architecture (BIM), Engineering, 3D sketching skills, Computational Geometry.
