Digitization, 3D scanning, medical imaging, statistical methods, automated CAD correction and 3D printing are creating new opportunities and challenges. Software is at the heart of this (r)evolution.

To provide our patients with the best possible solutions, nowadays and in the future, VIGO is committed to continuously invest in research and development. The R&D department, headquartered in Wetteren, is an agile, multidisciplinary team focused on digital product development in a wide variety of patient-oriented projects. To strengthen the team in our headquarters, we are looking for a talented Senior R&D Software Engineer (M/F/X).

De functie

You will take part in/lead innovative software development projects, where you will closely work together with multidisciplinary stakeholders (design, production, business unit sales teams, medical experts, management) to translate basic research results and new concepts into software for orthopedic products and processes. Software maintenance, green field projects and outsourced developments will be assigned to you in a local and international context.

The software development projects vary from creating demonstration software to the writing of application programs used inside the company, with possible further international deployment within a digital network. There will be a strong focus on digital manufacturing (3D printing, CNC milling, …), CAD/CAM automation and data analytics. In addition to hands-on software development, you will also have a technically advising role on software related developments and will report to the R&D manager.

Het profiel
  • You are a Master of Science (ir/ing) in engineering, mathematics, physics, … or equivalent through experience.
  • A PhD and/or 5 years industrial experience is a plus.
  • You have excellent knowledge of software development, preferably in .NET / C# and Python. Knowledge of C++ is a plus.
  • You have a proven experience in best practices for software development (architectural design, documenting, testing).
  • You have strong affinity with 3D geometrical mathematics and 3D modeling.
  • Your knowledge of finite element modeling and data science is a plus.
  • Your experience with 3D design software (e.g. Rhinoceros, SolidWorks, Blender, …) is a plus.
  • You are willing to invest in possible missing area of expertise.
  • You are structured and precise and you have an integer personality.
  • You show project ownership (hands-on), can prioritize, keep focus, and plan your work.
  • You are an excellent communicator and a team player.
  • You are fluent in English and preferably Dutch.
