What will your working day look like?
As Research Manager, you will be responsible for the strategy concerning the chemical research for, and further innovation of, Indaver’s P2C plant. The aim is to further develop and optimise advanced recycling processes such as pyrolysis, gasification, depolymerisation and solvent-based recycling. You will monitor the parameters of raw materials and products, such as GC-MS, TGA, FTIR, NMR.
You manage a multidisciplinary team consisting of chemists and laboratory technicians. You oversee laboratory and pilot-scale research, translating the scientific outcomes into scalable solutions that contribute to the sustainability goals and commercial success of the P2C plant.
*
What will be your biggest challenge?*
You are able to recognise emerging technologies and assess their potential for integration into Indaver’s recycling platforms. You set up experiments and analyse chemical processes related to polymer degradation, feedstock variation, catalyst development and contaminant reduction. You draft technical reports, make patent applications and present data packages for internal and external stakeholders. Naturally, you put your knowledge of relevant environmental and safety regulations to use.
You manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously and coordinate R&D activities with engineering, operations and business development. Collaboration with universities, research institutes and technology partners comes naturally to you; you are therefore a communicative team player.
*
How will you make a difference?*
- You have a PhD or master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science or related field.
- You have at least 3 years of industrial R&D experience, preferably in plastics recycling, petrochemicals or sustainable materials.
- You have demonstrable expertise in thermochemical or solvent-based recycling, catalysis or polymer chemistry.
- You have experience in leading R&D teams and managing multidisciplinary projects.
- You are strongly analytical, highly communicative and think in solutions.
What can we offer you?
- An exciting and versatile job with responsibility that is appropriately remunerated.
- Feeling good every day because you are contributing to a sustainable future.
- The opportunity to develop further; we like to invest in our colleagues.
- Good work-life balance.
- Part-time working from home is possible by mutual agreement.
Where will you be working?
Indaver is an international waste treatment and management company committed to a sustainable circular future. It extracts new raw materials and energy from waste streams. Hazardous components are destroyed to keep the materials cycle safe.
Indaver P2C is a leader in advanced recycling technologies focused on reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable resource management.
The new recycling plant in Antwerp reprocesses collected plastic waste streams into valuable basic chemicals for industry through pioneering recycling technologies.
You will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary and enthusiastic team in the R&D department. Your colleagues are passionate about eco-friendly innovations and together they want to realise a circular economy. Everyone in the team wants to make this start-up P2C plant a success. We therefore adopt a flexible attitude in our work, also take on tasks that are not always in our package and take a lot of personal responsibility. You can count on a supportive and inclusive work environment that focuses on collaboration, integrity and excellence.
You will report to the R&D manager.
