The Ground Operations function operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving efficiency and innovation.

As Self-Handling Team Lead, you will operationally manage a team of Duty Operational Supervisors and Airport Service officers at Ostend Airport. You are responsible for the overall performance of the Self-Handling Team to agree upon TUI standards and all applicable regulations, such as but not limited to safety, customer satisfaction, dangerous goods, security and ground handling compliance and punctuality.

In this role, you’ll report to the Region Manager for Belgium.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

As Self-Handling Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for:
  • Managing and coordinating your team, by creating an environment and culture where people can fully flourish within their role, develop themselves, feel engaged and where cultural differences & diversities are embraced and turned into our strengths.
  • Ensuring all employees are empowered with all the necessary training, skills, and knowledge they need, to excel in delivering the ad-hoc flight coordination.
  • Overall monitoring of the ground operations at the airport, ensuring compliance, at all times, with established protocols and airport operating procedures
  • The promotion and application of safety awareness program at Ostend Airport.
  • Focusing on punctuality, on time performance and engagement standards for each flight, inspiring the team to work collaboratively and systematically.
  • Liaise with the accountable Ground Operations station account manager and other internal stakeholders and report directly to the region manager.
  • Act as a liaison and point of contact with all external stakeholders such as Ostend Airport security, fire department, airport inspections and Ground Handler.
  • Promoting a culture of service excellence and maintain a professional image, both personally and corporately
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively look for ways to improve Ground related business processes to enhance the overall experience and operational performance.
  • Develop and implement all necessary policies and procedures to facilitate safe and smooth operations.
  • Work close with ground ops stakeholders in assisting the set-up of effective processes in the area you’re responsible for.

ABOUT YOU:
  • Comprehensive understanding of ground operations activities, TUI Airline Manuals and all ground safety and compliance relevant regulations.
  • Ability to properly manage an operational team
  • You have strong communications and facilitation skills combined with good interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and productive relationships.
  • Well-organised, with strong process management skills and an ability to establish and work to priorities
  • Self-Motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures and apply a flexible approach when required.
  • Flexible to work on various shifts (days, evening, weekends, and holidays)
  • Previous experience working in an aviation environment is desired
  • Role requires strong knowledge of Dutch and English, both spoken and written, knowledge of French is an advantage
