The Senior Application Specialist Bakery focuses on innovation and product development within Cargill’s ingredient portfolio, with an emphasis on bakery applications. You will support new bakery product development initiatives to help move ingredients from Concept to commercialization while collaborating with other technical and business teams. Your research efforts will also involve multifunctional interaction with commercial and technical service teams, as well as customers. In addition, this position will require flexibility to assist with other applications team projects and shorter-term projects, as needed, including using other ingredients.
Location: Open for candidates based or willing to relocate to Vilvoorde, Belgium. Key Accountabilities
- Work with key customers and business partners to identify and deliver on dedicated project opportunities.
- Partner with marketing and sales to meet customer needs and make technical presentations to customers.
- Run product demonstrations and serve as the expert during these meetings.
- Lead product issues, report data to product development teams, and monitor scientific reports or datasheets detailing the organization’s products and their applications.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food technology or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience in bakery space
- Comprehensive knowledge of ingredients: starches, sweeteners, proteins, edible oil solutions, cocoa-based products
- Master degree in food technology or equivalent by experience
- 10 years of experience in bakery space
- Good knowledge and understanding of different product categories within the bakery space
- Project management skills, agile mindset
- Scientific understanding of ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions in different product categories of bakery
- Strong knowledge or experience with different processes applied in bakery space
- Problem solver with “Can do” and “hands on” mentality, pragmatic approach
- Open attitude, good interpersonal skills and excellent team player
- Understanding the customers’ needs, knowledge of value proposition design
- Key customer assistance in problem solving, re-formulation,
- Innovative mindset: e.g. identifying attractive new ingredient and new-end products possibilities/solutions,
- Networking, connectivity, being able to work in matrix organization
