As a Software Engineer you’ll be working within cross-functional team of designers, developers and testers - Delivering across the entire software development life cycle, from concept /design/ build/ deploy /test, right through to release and support.

We are looking for a talented and dedicated leader to join the Commercial technology organisation which builds and operates the systems that support the leading edge Pricing and Yield Management processes. We are a multi-disciplinary team of experts across Architecture, Engineering, DevOps and Agile Delivery providing services across the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands. Our systems process billions of records each day, with data sets in the hundreds of Terrabytes. Building the next generation of platforms to handle these volumes is extremely challenging and exciting. You will get to work with the latest technologies and software delivery methods, with a critical focus on automation within the development lifecycle.

About The Job

As a Software Engineer you will develop and extend the reach of our highly-rated existing applications, while helping to define the roadmap for future TUI software applications. This will include collaborating with product owners and design colleagues to deliver inspirational applications, and continue to optimise their performance post release

A key part of this role will be to develop and produce functional solutions with quality designs and code in accordance to architecture design standards, code standards and environment configuration management. You will also build prototypes at tech scoping stage of projects and create and maintain a robust technical framework to support TUI applications and platforms.

Within this role you will also create compelling user interfaces and experiences across multiple internal platforms with minimal duplication of effort. You will also seek continual improvements in delivery with the team to drive efficiency and productivity.

You will test functionality and produce readable documentation for the created sources in accordance with the documentation guidelines, as well as take responsibility for the consistency and viability of the software changes made in the test and production environments

About You

• A very senior software developer able to both deliver quality software solutions plus identify and drive best practice approaches across our teams.
• Familiar with building container-based microservices in Amazon Web Services using both APIs and message brokers (SQS, SNS, Kafka), as well as front end user interfaces using common frameworks such as React, Vue and Ext. Full stack experience from front end to database is essential.
• Experience of development in multiple languages such as C#, Java, Python and SQL. Some additional knowledge of Linux shell scripts and Terraform will be beneficial but not necessary
• A curious technologist who loves to evaluate and stay current with the latest technologies, striving for a wide breadth of knowledge across our entire technology landscape.
• Experience with outside data sources and API’s (JSON, SOAP, Rest, XML)
• Strong experience of Agile Scrum development practices.
• A highly flexible, adaptable and resilient personality, with the ability to work in an international team environment
• Flair for clean code, reusability, testability and readability (SOLID, TDD, BDD)
• Solid understanding and practical knowledge of the full development and application lifecycle
• Working knowledge of the general software development landscape, architectures, trends and emerging technologies
• Understands how a structured approach should be used
• Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organisation and external 3rd parties / suppliers
