Janssen Research & Development (JRD) discovers and develops innovative medical solutions to address important unmet medical needs in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, infectious diseases and vaccines, pulmonary, and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

The Infectious Diseases Therapeutic Area (ID TA) of JRD aims to be a transformational medical innovator by discovering, developing and making available therapeutic medicines that address key unmet needs in infectious diseases in the developed and the developing world. Within ID, our focus is on finding better treatment for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, RSV, Flu and other Infectious Diseases.

Team and roleThe JRD Finance Team closely connects throughout the organization to drive value and deliver on its financial commitments. In line with the geographical co-location of the business in both EU and US, the ID and GPH TA Finance Team has presence in both Belgium (Beerse) and the US (San Francisco).The ID TA Finance Team is currently recruiting for a Senior Financial Analyst to provide finance leadership and support across Respiratory Therapeutic Area (TA) portfolio.

The role is based in Beerse (Belgium), reporting to the Sr. Finance Manager ID & GPH, R&D.

Main Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Support the Respiratory TA portfolio throughout the development cycle (Discovery through Launch), providing financial support to the Compound Development Teams (CDT) and Project Management Teams (PMT).
  • End to end financial responsibility for the Respiratory TA budget; delivering business planning, latest thinking, and actual cycles and providing valuable insights and analytics to assist decision making and resource allocation.
  • Actively participate in strategic projects and influence the prioritization of projects in partnership with business partners to create value and drive impact.
  • Develop and support financial valuations for internal and external projects as well as partnering opportunities; working closely with Business Development and Innovation Center finance teams on either supporting their efforts in new opportunities or having them support R&D’s efforts where the R&D team is leading the financial analysis on such opportunities.
  • Financial management of R&D Out Of Pocket (OOPs) spend and Operating Expenses (OPEX) to assure sound investments while seeking out cost savings opportunities.
  • Assure financial compliance and control on Health Care Compliance, Sarbanes Oxley and Audit requirements.
  • Foster a strong one-team spirit across both geographies and participates in global finance projects.
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated finance professional with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, able to work with business partners at all levels and who has the following qualifications

:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in Accounting, Economics or Finance.
  • A minimum of 4 years of finance, accounting or related business experience.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices or healthcare related business is an asset.
  • A Master’s/MBA degree, CPA, CMA or other financial certifications are preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Experience with SAP, BW, Tableau and other financial reporting and analytical tools is preferred.
