Role: Software Engineer BackEnd/MidTier Senior
Locations: Leuven, Belgium

Role and responsibilities:
You will work within the "Smarter Kate" team in the domain of Kate, our innovative, digital
assistant for our customers.
One of the objectives of the team is to monitor and report about the usage and
performance based on the interactions between the customers and Kate.
As Kate is only 1 year old, a lot of new reporting requests are arriving about her growth.
This will bring also quite some exciting challenges.
As a data engineer, you are the data specialist of our team. You can analyse and use the
available data within KATE and from other systems, so that the necessary reporting can
be set up. You transport the raw data to the reporting interface by setting up an
automatic data processing pipeline.
You uphold the quality, update and expand our data for reporting.
You have a good sense of ownership and will work closely with our Stakeholders, Kate
team members, Product Owner and Scrum Master.

Responsibilities - expanded
- Analysing (complex) reporting requirements coming from different parties and translate
them to the correct source of the internal/external data
- Developing the necessary code to get and process the data
- Checking and analysing the "correctness" of the data / results
- Setting up automated data pipelines
- Interpreting the results and finding the best way to visualize this in a dashboard

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of data warehouse principles, data lakes
- Setting up data processing pipelines (in AWS)
- Knowledge of CI/CD (GIT, Jenkins)
- Spark, Pyspark
- Python
- Hadoop / Hive
- SQL
- Jupyter notebook

Additional "surplus" knowledge:
- QlikSense
- Basic Linux
- Scheduling tool UAC
- AWS
- RASA (chatbot)
