Trinseo Belgium BVBA has an opening for a Technical Service & Development (TS&D) Engineer to support the development, market implementation and quality of Trinseo Plastics.

The opening is aimed at supporting customers in the use of Polystyrene, supplied into the Packaging, Consumer Goods, Large Appliances & Foamboard markets, while leveraging our current & future initiatives in circularity & sustainable solutions

Job Expectations:

As the technical interface with customers, the role has a strong application and product development focus, with additional responsibilities for ensuring product quality meets customer needs, with responsibilities including:
  • identifying and understanding the end use application needs
  • identifying project opportunities, based on customer and market needs
  • translating identified needs into product and application development opportunities
  • developing and implementing new polymers, circular &/or sustainable solutions
  • development projects to resolve critical quality issues
  • supporting product scale up to our polystyrene operations
  • supporting existing business

Primary location for the position would be based in Tessenderlo (BE), with options for a balance of in-office and remote working to be assessed accordingly. The job will require you to apply your knowledge of polymers and polymer fabrication technologies on a daily basis.

As a member of Trinseo Plastics global Technical Service and Development organization, you will also have responsibility for specific development projects, requiring interaction with R&D and TS&D colleagues in Europe &/or globally.

You will need to work closely with sales, manufacturing and other functions within Trinseo, with technical responsibility for a defined group of customers.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of polymers and/or polymer fabrication technologies, gained through a university level education in Polymer Material Science, Fabrication Technology or Engineering, or closely related fields.
  • Fluency in English is required (as company language)
  • Mobile and able to travel a minimum 20% of the time, essentially within Europe

Minimum education level should be M.Sc. in Polymer, Chemical or Mechanical engineering, with preferred 5 – 10 years’ experience in polymer processing, extrusion and / or polymer chemistry being preferred
