One of the leading global medical technology business is looking for a permanent VAT Accountant to join their growing team in Aalst (3 days in the office, 2 days at home). In this role you’ll be a member of the VAT and Intrastat team which is part of their Finance Ops Centre of Excellence.

The Role…

As a VAT Accountant you’ll perform accounting and financial activities in the VAT & Intrastat area to improve the efficiency of services provided to Europe and EMA Countries whilst also identifying process improvements, implementing these improvements and then following-up on actions to improve internal controls and ensure adherence to policies & procedures. Other key responsibilites include

  • Responsibility for the timely and correct handling of all matters concerning the day to day bookkeeping, preparation of the VAT returns and other related returns (IC listing, Client Listing & Intrastat) of a specific assigned portfolio for more complex VAT countries (ex Swiss, Belgium, Spain)
  • Guaranteeing timeliness and correctness of all VAT returns and other related returns and follow up on possible corrections
  • Assisting in the process development of future VAT
  • Performing closing transactions (eg. VAT clearing/postings for own portfolio) and audit assistance

To succeed in the role of VAT Accountant, you’ll need to have a relevant education, business fluent English along with experience of a similar role including VAT and Intrastat. Strong Excel skills and a compliance mindset are essential, whilst any SAP experience will certainly hold you in good stead.
