INTRODUCTION

Alstom has been part of Belgian railway history for 130 years through its connection with the former rail transport equipment subsidiary of SA Ateliers de Constructions Électriques de Charleroi (ACEC). Today, Alstom Belgium employs 1050 people and is involved in approximately 100 major projects worldwide.

The site in Charleroi has developed unique expertise in electrical and electronic systems within two centres of excellence that operate at a global level : one focuses on traction systems and the other on signalling and railway traffic control systems, with a particular emphasis on equipment that complies with the European standard (European Rail Traffic Management System/ ERTMS). The teams develop systems, manufacture prototypes, perform tests and trials, complete approval procedures and manage integration projects. An after sales service activity completes the offer for these product groups. Alstom Belgium pursues an ambitious growth strategy by actively investing in R&D. The work carried out by its team of 100 research engineers makes a significant contribution to the development of a sustainable rail transport system.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

It Means

As a V&V Leader, and as a member of the Test System Team, your mission will be to lead Validation & Verification activities for the signalling projects you will be in charge with.

• Writing of test specifications and test criterias for trainborne or trackside sub-system acceptance in accordance with a predefined generic test strategy;
• To run the tests, analyse the results and write test reports according to the predefined test specifications (lab tests)
• Functionally leading & mentoring a team of V&V Engineers (2-4 people).
• To formalize anomalies if any, to organize review to analize anomalies and to request modifications if required.
• To follow-up the setting of the test bench and tools to carry-out the tests;
• To carry out regression tests after anomalies correction.
• To organize and participate to the end of phase review
  

To be successful in this function, you’ll certainly have to initiate and maintain regular and constructive relationships with project members and with the Product team (ERTMS-CORE, Trackside Functional Module design team…), but also occasionally with client, suppliers and partners when doing on-site testing.

Requirements

Education - Engineering degree with specific training/experience in the fields of automatics, IT, or other well suited degree/background.

Experience – A solid background in Test & Integration activities combined with a strong knowledge of railways signalling systems are mandatory (ERTMS). A first experience as Teamleader and in Project Management would be very important assets.

Language – A full proficient use of French and a good level in English are.
