Duration: First contract is for 3 months with rolling extension.
No. of working hours: 40 hours per week
Location: 2 day(s) per week in office in Mechelen

What is the project about?
Plans, monitors and manages the internal projects for the Core rollout of our 5G network from initiation through completion, according to the departmental business objectives, translating these objectives into concrete deliverables, that will be delivered according to the Agile Way of Working (TAWOW)
Characteristics of these Projects are:
Direction of the scope is identified but not fully defined yet, as is the impact on products and technology, because of the novel technology that is used.
- In some projects new technology is introduced: for the first time we combine the Core build up with a Cloud implementation, combining 2 vendors that have to work together on this (Packet Core supplier and Telco Cloud supplier)
- There is impact on legacy systems, processes, organization, operations, incl change mgmt.
- Typically delivered within 1 program potentially in phases within a max 2 year timeframe.
- Changes in scope, roadmap, priorities & timing are handled within the TAWOW processes..
- Dependencies are numerous within mainly the engineering departments and towards the Operations department. They are less pure IT related, as this is the basic rollout of a 5G radio core network.
- Delivers the agreed scope and deliverables, by bringing together all involved squads and tribes and makes them work together.
- High stakes for the department, (S)LT level stakeholders. Timing is of the utmost importance to prevent from missing technical and commercial milestones.
- Customer impact is a key characteristic in the initiatives in this rollout, as we have phased migrations starting with FUT-users and building this up gradually to full migrations.
- Project governance
- Projects covers many engineering departments with their own backlogs and priorities, next to the external suppliers. Further on, alignment with the operations departments is part of the dependency management.
- Interaction with the engineering (voice, broadband, data) squads to get their backlogs aligned according to the priorities of the 5G Core rollout program is required.
Challenges
Building the new core to prevent 5G capacity issues provides some challenges:
- Completely new technologies are introduced to move to the cloud. Currently everything runs on machines.
- The participation of many internal stakeholders are required, in order to successfully migrate 5G to a new core. One example is the build of a new billing flow on google Cloud
- It is challenging to align priorities with other departments / stakeholders on the 5g Core project.
- There is a lot of pressure on the project to deliver in strict deadlines.

Requirements
- Stakeholder management and perception management
- Some IT project knowledge, such as low level networking or cloud, is required in order to level with the engineers
- Excellent influencing skills & negotiation skills.
- Ability to align cross functional stakeholders
- Abillity to build trust, and an open and transparent working climate
- High “get it done“ & mobilization capabilities
- Combination of professional diplomacy, balancing it with a clear and strong steering to get things done in an environment of strong opinions and own agenda’s.
