Analytics Consultant in Energy Forecasting

We are looking for an Analytics Consultant in Energy Forecasting to join our Energy team based in our Headquarters in Louvain-la-Neuve, in the Brussels area of Belgium. As an Analytics Consultant in Energy Forecasting, you will help the company be the top reference in Advanced Analytics Solutions for Energy challenges around energy markets & forecasting. You’ll take the lead on key Energy projects around Energy trading and forecasting.

What you’ll do

• You will work, as an analytics translator, in close collaboration with our clients, which means that you need to translate the advanced analytics approach in business-oriented words, understand client needs and identify main improvement levers;
• You will perform proof of concepts, to validate the added value of N-SIDE forecasting platform to the specific reality of different customers. This will involve gathering and processing the necessary data, testing and adapting N-SIDE algorithms to optimize the generated value and communicating in a crisp and convincing manner toward the customer regarding the benefits of the technology.
• You will contribute to the development of our portfolio of forecasts products, including energy market price forecasts (day-ahead, intraday, imbalance, …) but also to other types of forecasts (renewables production, gas price, …)
• You will leverage your deep understanding of energy markets to suggest improvements of existing products or development of new ones.
• You will build a strong relationship with customers, ensuring strong customer satisfaction and allowing to identify cross-selling opportunities of N-SIDE energy products

About you

• Master in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Physics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related topics);
• You have 2-4 years experience in the Energy sector in particular energy markets and energy trading;
• You have a deep understanding of the fundamentals driving the energy markets;
• Experience in a market facing department (front/middle office, risk management,...) is considered a strong plus;
• Good Programming knowledge in Python (e.g. data manipulation, Jupyter notebooks, use of ML/optimization libraries) is required;
• Experience in the valorization and use of Machine Learning algorithms in particular for Energy Forecasting;
• You can demonstrate project management or account management skills;
• Good communication skills and ability to explain clearly objectives and problems;
• Ability to proactively interact with external and internal stakeholders at all levels;
• Customer-minded and results-driven;
• You have an innovation mindset; You are curious, team player, proactive;
• Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills;
• Fluent in English. Other languages are a plus;
