We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Application Engineer for our on-highway engine applications and components businesswho will contribute to the further business growth by providing technical expertise on complex client projects. This dual customer / product focused position serves as the senior technical liaison between OEM customers primarily in France and Belgiumand represents our customers during new product development and current production programs.

This role sits within our distribution business unit, based in Rumst, Belgiumor your remote home office in Belgium, France, The Netherlandsand Germanywith 40% travel to Belgium and France expected.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Development of technical specifications for our customers’ vehicles, implementing and testing new design configurations and delivering high performance equipment and systems solutions integrated with customers’ products in a variety of applications. Collaborate with the commercial team to identify suitable products and solutions for the customer.
  • Make decisions in the areas of product selection, design, and integration that will optimize engine performance and will also impact OEM machine performance, optimization and quality.
  • Investigate integration and installation problems, recommending appropriate action and own problem resolution with the guidance of system experts within the team
  • Ensure installation quality by validating prototype machine performance and ensuring installations meet Cummins requirements.
  • Develop strong working relationships with customer technical counterparts to serve as their primary liaison to deliver specialized product technical information, manage product specifications, communicate product change information, conduct complex installation issue resolutions and facilitate customer requests.
  • Applies and improves processes such as Installation Quality Assurance, OEM integration and product selection and internal tools to support the processes and enable high quality decision making. Lead the translation of customer needs and "voice of the customer" into functional product requirements to provide input on program-related decisions.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Min. BSc. in engineering and relevant hands on engineering work experience within the automotive, power generation, marine, alternative fuels or similar industry are required.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 40% to visit client sites in France and Belgium, once safe to do so. Driving license required.
  • English & French on professional working level is a must, any other foreign language is advantage.
  • Natural relationship building skills with a desire to provide a high level of customer satisfaction, commercially aware with a genuine passion for the industry and the brand.
