The company

Elia is the operator of the Belgian high-voltage transmission grid (380 kV to 30 kV) and is responsible for developing and maintaining the grid, providing users with access to it and controlling energy flows. The Elia group is a team of 2,000 professionals who have the task of ensuring the continuity of electricity supplies in Belgium.

As owner and operator of electricity transmission networks in Belgium and Germany Elia has an important role and mission in supporting and implementing Europe’s energy and climate policy.

Function


Elia has some new offshore projects:MOG 2 (Modular Offshore Grid 2)
To contribute to Europe and Belgium’s ambitions for the Energy Transition, Elia has foreseen to extend its offshore high voltage grid. The grid shall connect the new Belgian windfarms situated within the “Princess Elisabeth Windfarm zone”.


The concept that Elia is currently considering is to:

  • Build 1 artificial energy island (with offshore transmission infrastructure)
  • The windfarms are to be connect at the 66kV level (= scope windfarm owners)
  • 6x350 MW 220kV AC export cable systems of ~50 km each
  • 1x HVDC converter and 1x HVDC cable system for 1,4GW
  • Possibility to connect future HVDC interconnectors

As Cable Package Manager Offshore:

  • You report to the Program Manager, but work in a multidisciplinary team together with the other Package Managers, engineers, experts, procurement officers, contract managers, legal experts, HSE experts, PMO officer, etc.
  • You provide leadership to the cable package team, responsible for delivering the complete offshore cable scope including supply and installation.
  • You will develop, plan, implement and manage all aspects of the cable package, including budget, schedule, risk, people, etc.
  • You represent the project’s interest in establishing contracting and procurement strategies specific to the offshore cable supply and installation, in close cooperation with our procurement and legal departments
  • You are responsible for the development of all technical specifications in accordance with the cable package strategy.
  • You participate in the contract negotiations for the supply and installation of the offshore cables for the MOG 2 Project.
  • You manage all aspects of the EPCI contract (or set of contracts) covering design, manufacturing, testing, delivery, installation and commissioning.
  • You are a Safety Leader continuously looking for safety enhancements by making a proactive contribution to the feedback process.

Your Profile


  • Fluent in English and Dutch and/or French
  • You have at least 10 years of working experience in the offshore sector, with at least 5 years in a Package Management role;
  • You have excellent leadership skills
  • You have experience with writing specifications and/or procedures;
  • You have a basic knowledge of common EPC contract forms (FIDIC, NEC,…)
  • You can demonstrate experience in installing submarine transmission cables, dredging and/or installing of other submarine infrastructure cable installation and you have a wide knowledge around cable installation techniques, vessels and tools
  • You work in a structured, independent and precise manner;
  • You are a smooth, assertive communicator and a resourceful accountable team player;
  • You are a quick learner.
