We are currently looking for a Logistics Coordinator for our Business Unit Base Chemicals based in Mechelen (Belgium).
As a Logistics Coordinator, your role will focus on the planning and scheduling of gas and chemical shipments, pipeline/terminaling operations and administrative activities related to the buying and selling of petrochemical products. You take the responsibility for the smooth and cost optimal logistics execution of commercial deals and contracts made by the commercial team, you give guidelines on short-term imbalances and provide optimized logistics instructions to trade partners and logistic service providers.
It is your role to:
* Optimise logistical costs by using optimal shipping arrangements.
Organise quality and quantity analysis by surveying companies for product flows; follow up the quality of the delivered products meeting contract specifications: in case of deviations, drive incident handling and follow up of corrective actions.
* Provide input, suggestions and logistics expertise to the commercial teams to improve future performance of contracts and work actively on new ideas.
* Capture market intelligence through the follow-up of the main shipping activities in EU (with help of brokers) to support commercial team in understanding market dynamic.
* Ensure compliance with the relevant safety, environmental, quality and sustainability certification standards in the shipping, terminal operations and storage processes for the assigned portfolio and develop and implement recommendations for improvements.
* Manage and approve costs and direct contact with accounting on invoicing secondary costs, e.g. rent, surveying costs, freight, bunker, etc... .
* Run month-end closing procedures.
* Analyse & report logistics and quality incidents.
* Contribute to supplier performance review sessions with the goal to drive continuous improvements of service level and contracts.
* Provide and understand operational input to assure optimal demurrage handling/recovery
Profile description:
About you
You have a higher degree in a relevant discipline (Logistics/ Economy/Business/Engineering) and minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with a strong preference for a maritime and terminaling background. You have what it takes to schedule, plan and optimize activities and enjoy working with numbers, a strong analytical brain and solution oriented mindset are crucial for this role.
You demonstrate excellent communication and networking skills, which help you to develop robust and successful relationships with your internal and external stakeholders. You demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethics and multi-cultural awareness. In addition, you are stress-resistant and adapt easily to a fast moving, challenging environment. Finally, you should be fluent in both written and spoken English.
