Our client is an international company paving the way in the building materials sector for more than 100 years. Their environment conservation mindset and steady employee development philosophy have led them to be recognized as a Top corporate employer several years in a row. They are now looking for a new Commercial Director Belgium.

The position provides strategic leadership, direction and management of all key commercial and marketing activities within one business unit. This includes sales team and processes development and management to achieve agreed market share, and margin performance levels. The incumbent will also ensure that a good market intelligence is captured and analyzed to maximize market opportunities for the BU.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic leadership
  • Provide leadership to the sales, marketing & customer service team
  • Manage direct reports with clear targets and performance measures which are reviewed regularly.
  • Proactively oversee and facilitate personal development plans for his/her team.
  • Play an active role in BU Management team
  • Build-up, maintain and develop relationships with key accounts + representing the BU externally
Sales & Distribution
  • Provide monthly sales forecast and competitor analysis in line with reporting requirements.
  • Achieve highest levels of customer service whilst maintaining efficient operating costs.
  • Work closely with Operations Directors and logistic department
  • Achieve agreed levels of volume, market share, price and margin.
Commercial Excellence
  • Design and implement a standard sales process
  • Implement a group CRM ensuring the full buy-in of the sales organisation
Marketing & technical support
  • Develop a clear value proposition by market segment and ensure that his/her teams have the necessary tools to promote and capture this value.
  • Ensure solid technical support is delivered to targeted customer groups
  • Identify opportunities for differentiation through service or product innovation
  • Make sure the BU is duly represented in key federations and authorities to be on top of future trends.
  • Manage customers claims and ensure high degree of customer satisfaction
Experience
  • Previous relevant sales team management experience within the commodity sector (10y minimum);
  • Demonstrable track record to implement structured sales processes and engage sales teams on a commercial excellence journey
  • Strong commercial focus with responsibility for business development and profit delivery.
