Since 2015, the company has been investing in hydrogen technologies with the ambition of being a leading player across the whole hydrogen value chain.In order to reach the objectives in a new but fast growing and technology evolving market, Plastic Omnium has set up a dedicated Division “New Energies division” focusing on Hydrogen Storage, Fuel Cell Stack and Integrated Hydrogen Systems.We are searching for a Composite Manufacturing EngineerMISSIONDefine and implement composite manufacturing equipment in order to support the industrialization of high-pressure vessels according to the New Energies business plan.Support the plants WW regarding equipment installation & improvements, raw material handling, new constructions & extensions, utilities, TPM & maintenance, relative to high pressure vessel industrialization.Responsibilities And ActivitiesActivity 1 :Define, specify, follow up and commission equipment related to composite vessel manufacturing
  • Collect relevant information (Industrial department, Customer Centre, Development team, Plant) leading to the definition of the required equipment
  • Provide CAPEX estimation to be included in the industrial quotations, yearly budget and 5 years Business Plan, in cooperation with the purchasing department
  • Prepare the specifications of the needed equipment
  • Participate to the choice of suppliers
  • Organize follow up and commissioning of new equipment on site
  • Include lessons learned & safety audit conclusions in equipment specifications
Activity 2 : Support plants with new capacity requirements, process improvements, training
  • When needed, give specific plant support (installation of additional equipment, capacity increase, process issues and troubleshooting)
  • Define & organize training on process and equipment topics
Activity 3 : React to crisis situations requiring dedicated support :
  • Provide expertise support to sites in critical operational situation such as serious quality problems, potential field actions, machine efficiency issues threatening launch readiness or production capacity, and others as needed
  • Contribute to efficiency improvement action plans as needed
  • Provide hands-on help in order to solve most urgent issues
Activity 4: Adapt and develop industrial engineering tools to the composite manufacturing processes
  • Adapt the PFMEA, DFM&A to the composite manufacturing processes (filament winding, material mixing and others)
  • Develop training support documents for plants and development teams
Activity 5: Drive technical innovation, cost reduction and performance improvement
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions in order to reduce equipment cost, operational costs while ensuring the quality of the composite manufacturing processes
  • Ensure permanent tech watch in order to get state-of-the-art equipment
  • Audit equipment suppliers ; manage the supplier panel in cooperation with the purchasing department
  • Support the purchasing department in make or buy analysis
Profile RequirementsPersonal Background
    • Bachelor degree in mechanical and/or automation engineering.
    • Practical experience in plastic processing, including thermoplastics, composite manufacturing knowledge
    • Proven record of industrial project management
    • 5 years of experience in the field
    • Must be fluent in English
Job Technical Skills
    • Advanced knowledge of Plastic molding process ; composite manufacturing process
    • Knowledge in Machinery Design : mechanical, electrical, controls
    • Ability to collect, maintain and analyze data
    • Ability to troubleshoot and provide corrective action
    • Basic knowledge of Quality system and processes (i.e. TS16949 / IATF)

    • Must be flexible, dependable, and creative
    • Must have strong analytical skills
    • Ability to work independently
Mobility
    • Frequent travel is required according to project schedules and plant support needed
