Job Purpose and Impact

You will be part of the chocolate trading team and together with a more senior dairy Trader you are responsible for trading dairy for Cargill Chocolate Europe with a clear priority on serving our 9 European chocolate plants. Within a well-defined set of risk limits, you optimize the dairy book, manage the operational margins and guarantee a smooth-running pipeline in order to maximize the book’s Profit and Losses. For this you need to be able to do an in-depth analysis of the dairy market, turn it into a proper trading strategy and apply it in your role within the chocolate trading desk. You are expected to come up with profitable strategies for the physical portfolio as well as for the European dairy futures book. Understanding the risks and the dynamics of your position is key. Besides the trading role, you also have supporting/advising role towards our sales and external customers and you serve as a back-up trader for other chocolate ingredients like sugar, cocoa and vegetable oils.

Key Accountabilities
  • You build up a proper supply and demand analysis;
  • You collect market intelligence on crops, competition and consumption;
  • You analyze, discuss and conclude during weekly game plan meetings;
  • You set and execute trading game plans;
  • You are responsible for Profit and Losses budget accountability for raw materials under management;
  • You report Profit and Losses, daily position and general contract administrative tasks;
  • You provide market information to the Sales organization and our customers;
  • You network with market and build good relationships with counterparts;
  • You manage the supply chain activities in cooperation with transport, planning, quality and suppliers in order to ensure that production has adequate stock levels;
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • 1-4 years of experience on a high performing trading floor, preferably in dairy as an analyst or trader.
  • High level of risk appetite
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Good communication skills - verbal as well as written
  • Ability to build an internal network within the business unit and external network
  • Self-starting / entrepreneurial
  • Disciplined, respecting limits under all circumstances
  • Willing and able to take decisions,
  • Willing to explore new things
  • Good knowledge of excel/VBA
  • Fluent in English. Additional European languages (French/German/Dutch)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in dairy futures
  • 1-4 years of experience on a high performing trading floor, preferably in dairy as an analyst or trader. Higher seniority can be considered.
  • Experience in global dairy import/export
  • Additional European languages (French/German/Dutch)
