Job Purpose and Impact

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will provide expertise to ensure compliance regarding environmental, health and safety regulations. We seek a professional who will help develop, implement and maintain processes and programs that comply with federal, state and local regulations and requirements. In this role, you will lead and oversee all safey plans on the Chocolate G&D sites and work directly with site leaders and employees to ensure environmental health and safety excellence and enable a ZERO Harm Culture.

Key Accountabilities
  • Set up 5years and yearly EHS plans together with local plant manager, production managers and local EHS support for the Gourmet plants in Belgium (Leman Decoration in Mouscron and Smet Productions in Kalmthout) and Poland (Dobroszyce).
  • Partner with site leaders, sub regional leaders and operations to execute programs and manage risk at the sites.
  • Act as the lead or technical expert and build capabilities at the sites and sub regions to execute requirements and resolve specific challenges and issues.
  • Ensure full compliance and conformance to applicable laws related to State, Provincial and Federal regulations.
  • Identify and prioritize critical gaps and risks, and develop strategy and action plans to improve environmental health and safety programs, processes and systems inclusive of health and safety, environment and process safety.
  • Promote a strong environmental health and safety culture in the sites and sub regions by building a mindset where the cultural changes necessary are viewed as possible and essential to success.
  • Deliver training programs on a defined frequency to all applicable levels of the organization. Review effectiveness of the training plan and adjust accordingly
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Integrate company and legally required work processes, programs and controls into site level operating procedures, tools, and work instructions to standardize front line processes
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Fluent in French, Dutch and English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years experience in a similar function
  • No-nonsense Hands-on mentality, fast decision maker
  • Good, clear communicator
  • Influencing positive behavior through leading by example.
