SGS Health Science – Clinical Research carries out all type of services for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, from coordination and running of clinical trials with new molecules or techniques on human beings, to support and consultancy on post marketing registration activities. SGS Health Science has also expertise in the quality control of pharmaceuticals.

Job Description


The challenge and mission we have for you ?!

As Head Proposal Development (HPD) youprovide leadership and coachingto the Proposal Development Team (PD) teamwith the aim toensure effective, professional and highly qualified proposal development activities for SGS Clinical Research.

The HPD is responsible for the evaluation and assignment of resources to the different requests / projects(i.e. Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Information (RFI), Change in Scope (CIS) request) assigned to the Proposal Development department.

The HPD is responsible for ensuring that theresponses to the requests / projects are properly planned, developed and delivered. The HPD works in close collaboration with the Head of Business Development and Support, the Global Director Sales and the Head of the Contract Management Department to ensure proper planning and progression of strategic projects, efficient cross-departmental communication lines and identification and development of improvement projects related to the PD department functions.

This mission requires:

  • People management (line management)
  • Resource management
  • Proposal management
  • Quality control and assurance
  • Process Improvement

In this role you report to the Head of Business Development and Support.

Qualifications


What do you need to be successful as the Head Proposal Development?

  • You have a university degree in (life) sciences. Other fields such as business management or related are also considered. Equally recognized and/or relevant qualifications by experience may also be acceptable and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis;
  • You have proven to be an excellent people manager!
  • You can offer already some years of experience in a proposal development and/or business development function;experience in clinical research / pharma / biotech industry or a CRO is a big advantage of course;
  • You have advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office. Since budget templates are made in Excel and contain macros, etc., very good knowledge of Excelis necessary.
  • Of course you are fluent in English (both written and spoken), knowledge of Dutch/French is a plus!

On top of this following skills are important to become a good Head Proposal Development:

  • You have strong leadership and proven people management skills!
  • Of course problem-solving is part of the job
  • You have excellent organizational skills to cope with multi-tasking and setting priorities
  • You have a goal-oriented approach without losing the attention to details and keep a high quality standard
  • You have strong planning skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate
  • You work in a very structured and organized way
  • You are a strong, persuasive communicator with the ability to set clear performance-oriented objectives
  • You have outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • You are positive, constructive and you have a very professional attitude towards your team, colleagues and sponsors
  • You adapt easily to changing situations, focusing on needs, goals and priorities for the organization.

In short: you have the ability to lead and to encourage your team, to anticipate and to refocus where necessary. The ability to work with strong personalities in a stressful environment with short timeframes for deliverables.
