VIMPELOVA is an independent slow fashion designer label, currently residing at MAD Brussels. Originally founded in London, the brand designs womenswear and menswear from natural textiles with organic certification or from deadstock fabrics. High-end finishes and timeless aesthetics are our DNA. Often clean and essential silhouettes are embellished with intricate details of fabric manipulation. Sustainability is not "an" option, it is what drives our every decision however small.

We don’t follow the traditional fashion model, instead, we create a few collections or work on individual designs which we add throughout the year. We have direct contact with our customers and make adaptations and bespoke orders depending on the needs of the client. VIMPELOVA collection can be found at the "LOKAL Concept store" in the center of Brussels, with whom we have close contact and offer bespoke services on our designs.

Everything is done at the VIMPELOVA’s atelier: from design and research, through pattern cutting and sample sewing to final production and sales.

Job description

For this creative internship, you will join the designer in her atelier at ’MAD Brussels’ where you will be working hand in hand, preparing a new collection for the coming season as well as helping with customer orders and upcoming projects (VIMPELOVA’s exhibition and MAD Brussels, MAD Fashion Sales)

Tasks

•
Assisting with fashion design
  • Drawing and adapting patterns and pattern grading
  • Making of samples and stitching prototypes, helping with fittings
  • Preparation of technical drawing and specification sheets
  • Assisting with photo sessions
  • Contacting suppliers
  • Help with the preparation of the VIMPELOVA’s exhibition at ’MAD Brussels’
  • Assist during "MAD Fashion Sales" (Nov 25th-27th)
  • Other daily activities shared with the designer
Profile

  • Education in fashion design is highly recommended
  • knowledge of textiles and sewing techniques
  • familiar with sewing with industrial sewing machines
  • you have an eye for detail, you are well organized and independent
  • you are passionate about fashion and sustainability
  • Positive and proactive work ethic
  • knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign in a plus
  • You can think creatively and conceptually
  • Dynamic & enthusiastic
you speak fluent English, Dutch or French is a plus
