Team/division Description
Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements. R&D aims to strengthen the Toyota image in Europe. Material and Research Organic department is responsible for the development and evaluation of sustainable plastic & parts and materials used in the car.
Your project
In Order To Reduce Waste From End-of-life Vehicles Reuse And Recycling Technology Is Important Which TME Is Continuously Expanding. In Order To Do This, New Technologies Need To Be Developed That Allow Usage Of Recycled Material To Meet The Strict Automotive Standards For Demanding Part Applications. Your Challenge Is To Investigate Potential Of Recycled Plastic Parts Coming From End-of-life Vehicles For Recycling Them Back Into New Car Parts. Your Main Tasks Are
- From available market parts selection, set-up the material preparation steps (i.e grinding, purification, compounding) together with industry partners
- Set-up the material and part validation plan
- Evaluation of the material performances (i.e mechanical properties, heat stability)
- Decide most suitable materials and proceed initial proto part quality validations
- Based on results propose best technical solution for recycling of target parts Perform market research of latest state-of the art plastic recycling technologies
We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
Your Profile
- You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
- You are a Master Student in Chemical engineering
- You have general knowledge on polymer engineering & processing techniques
- Knowledge on the recycling industry and practical experience with material validation of plastics is a plus
- You are a flexible personality able to work independently with hands-on mentality
