Position Description

Introduction

Group IT, Center of Excellence, Java Platform and Tools team is looking for the IT Architectto strengthen our team in supporting digitalization journey by bringing the expertise in a new, modern approach to java software development and its ecosystem.

Role Description

As the IT Architect you will be involved in multiple activities with the main focus on microservice architecture – providing reference architecture and methods for java community in-lined with both: tools ecosystem and appointed cloud services in Volvo. You will interact with application teams across Volvo GroupIT recognizing the needs on the technical level and work on the generic solution inline with modern architecture patterns. You will support modernization journey and will play a vital role in sharing your expertise. As part of your duties you will support, coach and educate others in both new development and application modernization related activities.

As our new colleague you will be responsible for
  • Defining and building cloud native reference architecture targeting both RedHat OpenShift and Microsoft Azure
  • Exploring technology market trends and industrialize those across Volvo Group IT
  • Supporting teams during whole application delivery process
  • Defining migration strategies for legacy java applications
  • Preparing/Sharing educational material towards other departments
Who are you?
  • Open-minded, modern software development enthusiast with continuous improvement mindset following market trends
  • Have the experience in defining mid and long term strategy in technology area
  • Have practical experience with microservices (design, implementation, maintenance)
  • Have experience with at least one of following SpringBoot, Vert.x, Quarkus
  • Have perfect understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Have the knowledge of Microsoft Azure in the context of hosting java applications (certification is a plus)
  • Have experience with building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub and/or Azure DevOps)
  • Have ability to communicate effectively within enterprise organization
  • Strong ownership mentality
