Key Responsibilities
Acting as a Chapter Lead
As a Chapter Lead, you are responsible to hire, coach, and motivate team members of your chapter in order to build a group of talented software engineers that can deliver value in their squads. This activity is expected to take up to 50% of your time and includes:
- Select and recruit squad members with skills to meet projected demand and to have qualified, competent and motivated chapter members.
- Work with the Product Owners and the Engineering Lead to organize the chapter member assignment in squads.
- Coach chapter members on best practices and software design patterns to use in their respective products.
- Ensure transversal consistency of knowledge (e.g. C++, Java, DEVOPS, Test automation, etc....), create a culture of excellence and continuous learning and ensures professional growth of members
Set up knowledge sharing between chapter members and participate in cross-tribe knowledge sharing.
Develop and design and development programs to fill identified gaps.
Maintain deep understanding of current technology, database management, programming practices, and future trends through ongoing education, conference attendance and industry press.
Build a network within and outside the Chapter, maintains relationships with all relevant stakeholders and makes sure they are consulted and informed when needed.
Ensure chapter members understand the relevant IT policies and standards to apply in their domain
Set annual objectives and conduct mid-year review and year-end performance appraisal of chapter members
- Orchestrate the feedback collection from Product Owner, Agile Coach, and stakeholders to assess development needs and agree on skills development goals for chapter members
- Perform administrative approvals for squad members (e.g. Holiday requests, Travel requests and expense reports)
Acting as a squad member
Your activity will be centralized on evolving and executing a testing strategy for one of our important product, supporting 3000 customers.
- Your prime focus will be ensuring the delivered software is fit for a production environment, bearing in mind smooth deployment and operation towards the large customer base.
- You will set up, maintain, troubleshoot the testing infrastructure (Windows, LINUX (RedHat), Oracle, LDAP (as user), Alliance Access, …).
- You will write and maintain test scripts and test cases in order to qualify systems and business functionality.
- You will maintain existing test suites.
- You will execute test cases, partially manually, partially automated. Focus is given to continuously extend the automation, where possible as per business needs.
- You will engage key stakeholders and other teams, on the status of testing evolution, including more senior team members, the rest of the Squad.
- You will have the opportunity to develop yourself and others in a true agile environment.
You will work in a truly international environment with main hubs across three continents. Although we are a relatively small company (3000 employees), we have global reach and operate fast.

Experience and knowledge / Affinity
- Recognized as subject matter expert
- Proven experience in leading, coaching and mentoring technical staff
- Passionate about people management and people development
- Open-minded and curious about technology
- Foundation in software development and scripting, with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of LINUX and capability to operate and troubleshoot RHEL based hosts.
- Experience with shell scripting.
- Knowledge of Oracle databases and be able to create and execute queries on the database.
- Experience with Python and SQL; interest to learn other coding languages or technique as required by the project.
- Testing background with experience or knowledge of:
- Testing methodology and/or risk management (ideally with a methodology certification e.g. ISTQB, CAT)
- Testing tools (e.g. Robot Framework, Selenium, JMeter) – capability to execute, debug, adapt and extend an existing test set
- Test Management Tools (e.g. XRay)
- Knowledge of continuous delivery process and technologies (Jenkins, GIT, Jira)
- Knowledge of REST API of Jira is an asset.
- Knowledge of Alliance Access , SwiftNet Gateway and Alliance WebPlaform is an asset.
You’ll be joining the Journey to Cloud tribe aiming at providing our large customer base with low/zero footprint messaging solutions . Your initial contribution and focus will be on the the Swift Alliance Access product.
