As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will conceive, design, materialize, and improve products and research set ups and keep them up to date; all in a creative and cost-conscious manner while using both known and new production techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Support and redesign, if necessary, currently produced instruments to meet predefined requirements/specs and/or to simplify assembling of the instruments
  • Design experimental set-up
  • Participate in the building of prototypes and pre-production batches
  • Perform search and selection of suppliers for key mechanical components
  • Meet with producers and discuss their specific requirements to minimize production cost
  • Search for potential new producers of the machined parts and sheet metal parts
  • Prepare plans for suppliers and production
  • Support purchase with offer requests of prototype and assist in supplier decision
Qualifications
  • Degree in Industrial Engineer Electro Mechanics or be able to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge and skill gained by practical experience
  • Skilled in CAD design
  • Practical experience in general prototyping (soldering, assembling, wiring, etc.)
  • Background in micromechanics, precision instruments, etc.
  • Experience with precision mechanical design, electromechanical components, and sheet metal parts design
  • Basic knowledge of X-ray imaging and computer tomography is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of the SAP system
