Your team

Within the Network Management Directorate , "Network Operations" ensures the efficient and effective provision of H24 Network Manager core operations and of the supporting operational services and the overall achievement of the service’s objectives.

Your role

Your role will be to :

The role requires working combinations of shift duties (24*7).

Especially for the Flight Planning domain:

  • Support airspace users with flight planning operations and contribute to the efficiency of the Network Manager in daily operations of the short-term strategic, pre-tactical planning and post operations evaluation.

Especially for the Airspace Data domain:

  • Operate the ECAC Centralised Airspace Data Function (CADF) and prepare the consolidated European Airspace Use Plan (EAUP/EUUP), and run airspace pre-validations in coordination with air navigation service providers (ANSPs).

For both domains:

  • Manage the receipt, daily input and data maintenance with respect to capacity, traffic volumes, sectorisation, etc.
  • Analyse claims and incidents, and coordinate with ANSPs, AOs and internal/external partners on operational issues.
  • Produce simulations, statistics, reports, etc. according to different scenarios.
  • Assist in the communication of the ATFCM network plan to airspace users, airports, ATCCs and ensure the sharing of the network information.
  • Participate to meetings, workshops, tests, special events planning, projects, etc. in support of operations.
  • Contribute to the development of working practises and processes as support to enhancing efficiency.
  • Deliver training and courses on topics in field of expertise and act as OJTI as needed.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Please note, the role of the Network Operations Officer is planned to change as necessitated by theintegrated Network Management programme(iNM), and thus applicants should be aware of, and open to the proposal and the associated changes to the role.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • Secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience of at least 3 years.
    A post-secondary education would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience in Air Traffic Services or aircraft operations environment.
  • Experience or knowledge in Air Traffic Flow Control Management related activities OR Experience or knowledge in aeronautical data definition, publication and usage.
  • Analytical thinking: analyses information and identifies relationships.
  • Problem-solving: anticipates and solves business issues.
  • Communication: expresses information and ideas effectively.
  • Customer focus: responds effectively to customer enquiries.
  • Team work: foster team work.
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach.
  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English (C1 or C2). The selected candidate will be required to become basic users of French at level (A1/A2) before the end of the probation period.
    The levels relate to the Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).
  • This job is subject to an internal certification of competency (validation).

Useful information

  • If an external candidate is selected, he/she will be offered an appointment for an undetermined period. Before being established in the post, the external candidate will be required to provide certified copies of his/her degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.
  • The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade in the function group and to the type of post indicated in the vacancy notice, or, if a group of grades has been published, in principle at the basic grade.
  • In case of reserve list: Suitable candidates, however not selected to fill the post, will be placed on a reserve list for similar functions. The period of validity of reserve list is 1 year from the closing date of applications.
