Project Engineer - Mechanical Design Filters

The Role

Compressed air installations are often provided with air treatment installations; compressed air filters are an important component to guarantee air purity in an efficient and reliable way. New product development and innovation is fundamental to support the ambitious growth targets set by the division.

In the engineering competence team filtration of the Medical Gas Solution division, we have a fascinating vacancy for a project engineer – mechanical design. As a project engineer – mechanical design you will work in an engineering team together with the project leader, project engineers and designers to design and develop state of the art filtration products.

You will actively contribute to the development of new products by working out creative cost-effective design concepts. You will also collaborate with test engineers and mechanics in the test lab. Furthermore, you will participate in PTMs and supplier meetings to come to functional, cost effective, designs based on customer requirements.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to work in an international environment due to the close cooperation with manufacturing entities and suppliers in China, India, Italy, UK and USA.

Job responsibilities

• 
  (concept-) design in 3D-CAD of filter housings & elements and ancillary equipment
• Detail design in 2D
• Set-up of technical specifications (applying standards and legislations ISO, CE, PED, ASME, …)
• Coordinate flow and strength analysis on designs (CFD/FEA) with support of internal or external specialists
• Play an active role in evaluating freedom to operate or new patent applications for innovative concepts by participating in patent analysis (supported by the internal patent office)
• Follow-up of prototype assembly and testing
• Create and keep technical information updated (drawings, bill-of-material, purchase specifications and technical agreements)
• Final release and product maintenance of drawings, BOM’s, documentation and instructions for production in both BPCS and Enovia
• Delegate and coordinate repetitive and standard design work to the internal design studio (Gecia)
• Support on product follow up activities if required
• First point of contact within the team to support on best practices in handling the PLM systems

Experience requirements

• General technical knowledge; strong in mechanical design with preferably experience in developing aluminum casted and plastic injection molded parts
• You have experience in product design
• You have a master in mechanical design or similar through experience
• Innovative, creative
• You take initiative and are self-motivated
• You are able to build and maintain good relationships with suppliers and colleagues of other engineering departments.
• Willing to learn, easy to adapt to new systems and processes
• Fluent in English.
