QUALITY MANAGER - FOOD PROCESS

A human-sized company, Mamma Lucia specializes in the manufacture and packaging of ready-made pasta dishes for private label.

The site of manufacturing and packaging, based in Nivelles, meets all current food standards and is IFS, BRCGS, SAC, Halal, V-Label, Beter Leven certified.

Concerned about constant positive growth, Mamma Lucia is constantly listening to the international market and exports its products to several countries outside the European Union (Singapore, Ukraine, Dubai, United States, Saudi Arabia, etc.)

YOUR MISSION:

The objective of this function is to guarantee the safety, conformity and quality of food products throughout the production chain and to ensure compliance with quality standards, from the reception of raw materials to the distribution of finished products.

As a Quality Manager, you ensure compliance with all Belgian and European regulations in the agri-food sector and the achievement of the quality objectives defined by the General Management’s "Quality Policy". You also guarantee the compliance of products with the regulations of the exporting country.

Reporting directly to the company’s general manager (N+1), your mission is focused on different areas, namely:

  • Management and coaching of the Quality team made up of 2 employees.
  • Food Safety Culture:mplement activities to develop and assess the food safety culture within the company at all hierarchical levels.
  • Development & management of quality systems:design, implement and manage the company’s quality management system (QMS), in compliance with international standards (HACCP, IFS, BRCGS, etc.); develop and maintain the procedures and the quality manual.
  • Monitoring & quality control: supervise quality controls of raw materials, in-process products and finished products; analyze the results of quality tests, identify deviations from standards and propose corrective actions.
  • Management of internal/external audits: plan and conduct internal audits to assess the effectiveness of the SAQ, prepare & coordinate external audits conducted by clients, regulatory authorities or certification bodies; implement recommendations from audits and ensure follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Regulatory compliance: ensure that products comply with all national and international regulations regarding food safety and quality; ensure regulatory and technical monitoring to anticipate changes and adapt the company’s practices.
  • Quality incident management: identify, analyze and manage non-conformities, customer complaints and quality-related incidents; monitor alerts issued by Belgian and European authorities; implement action plans to resolve identified problems and prevent their recurrence.
  • Staff training & awareness: train and raise awareness among employees on good manufacturing practices, good hygiene practices, quality procedures and food safety.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: work closely with the production, R&D, procurement and logistics departments to ensure the integration of quality requirements; participate in new product development projects to ensure that quality aspects are taken into account from the design stage.
  • Continuous improvement: promote and lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes and reduce quality risks; analyze quality performance indicators and propose actions to improve results.

Finally, this function represents a driving role and requires an active presence within all departments of the company and essentially in all areas of production operations.

YOUR PROFILE:

Master’s or bachelor’s degree with a scientific orientation (agronomy, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology) accompanied by confirmed experience (>5 years) in quality management in the food industry including the production, processing, and distribution of food products.

Strong knowledge of quality and food safety standards (HACCP, BRCGS, IFS), experience in certifications (IFS and/or BRCGS quality audits) is essential. Experience and/or knowledge in Halal, V-Label or Beter Leven certifications is a major asset.

Knowledge of the conditions and regulatory instructions for exporting to third countries.

Mastery of quality control tools and techniques (microbiological, physicochemical analyses, and audit methods).

Leadership and management: ability to lead and motivate a quality team,by promoting engagement and accountability.

Field and customer orientation, strength of proposal and suggestion, continuous improvement orientation, objectives and results.

Sense of initiative, resistance to stress, autonomy,

Change management skills to implement new quality practices and standards.

Skills in managing simultaneous projects and planning their tasks; analytical, synthesis and problem-solving skills; rigor in verifying results and implementing corrective actions.

Excellent communication skills with all levels of interlocutors; diplomacy, sense of listening and dialogue, developed interpersonal skills, teaching skills.

Writing skills: clear and concise reports, procedures, work instructions.

Good knowledge of IT tools: MS Office, Excel, ERP

Fluency in French and English (reading, speaking, writing), knowledge of another language may be an asset.
