SEMICONDUCTOR ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

We’re currently recruiting a Semiconductor Engineer for a vacancy in the Leuven region in which you’ll be involved in the manufacturing of microelectronics compoentns.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting semiconductor manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, improve production efficiency, and reduce costs.

You will work directly with cross-functional teams to analyze process data, identify issues, and implement solutions that enhance overall performance.

This role requires a deep understanding of semiconductor production processes such as photolithography, etching, deposition, and CVD, alongside strong expertise in Python programming for data analysis and process automation.

You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help drive process innovations by leveraging both your technical expertise and analytical skills. Your ability to analyze large datasets, create automation scripts, and implement process improvements will be key to driving the success of our semiconductor manufacturing operations.

You will be part of a fast-paced environment where your insights and contributions will have a direct impact on the quality and efficiency of our production lines.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot semiconductor manufacturing processes such as photolithography, etching, deposition, ion implantation, and chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., design, quality assurance, and production) to improve yield, reduce defects, and enhance overall process performance.
• Monitor and analyze process performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency gains.
• Utilize Python for data analysis, process automation, and tool control.
• Conduct failure analysis and provide solutions to resolve process-related issues.
• Perform statistical analysis and design experiments (DOE) to refine process parameters.
• Generate and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and reports.
• Work closely with equipment engineers to ensure equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and operators on process optimization techniques and troubleshooting.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) by collaborating with R&D teams on process development and scale-up.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, preferably in process engineering.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor production processes (e.g., photolithography, etching, deposition, ion implantation, CVD, etc.).
• Experience with data analysis and process optimization in a semiconductor fab environment.
• Proficient in Python programming for data analysis, automation, and tool integration.
• Familiarity with software tools such as JMP, MATLAB, or similar for statistical process control and data visualization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with process control software and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
