Your role & work environment

As Senior Accountant within the Centre of Expertise Accounting, you deliver optimal financial accounting processes and solutions for ING BE, translating business events into the general ledger according to the applicable accounting GAAPs. You are part of the Centre of Expertise Accounting composed by 3 accounting domains: Lending & Commercial Bank, Treasury & Funding Bank and Corporate Bank.

More specifically we are looking for a senior accountant within the Lending & Commercial Bank domain. This domain includes all lending applications and related products, the loan loss provisioning, the broker channel and related commissions.

Together with the members of your expert domain, you provide top quality services, aiming for continuous improvement of the accounting and internal control processes. You work in close collaboration with your domain lead, your domain members in Brussels and in Manila, and with the colleagues in the other accounting expert domains as well as in the Centre of Expertise Reporting & Control, Tax, Finance Business Advice, Tribe Finance & Risk Support Chain and Group Finance. The department operates in a multi Gaap environment (Be Gaap, IFRS, US Gaap), under strict timelines and applies high level quality standards to the information delivered to its stakeholders being the different Executive and Business Management bodies of ING and the Regulatory authorities (ECB, NBB).

Your key responsibilities

The Senior Accountant is responsible within a certain domain, for both run and change activities in terms of timeliness and accuracy of financial accounting, statutory reporting, regulatory reporting and management reporting. The Senior Accountant has an end-to-end knowledge of Finance process and a good business understanding, enabling him/her to perform controls and trend analyses.

More specifically, he/she has the responsibility & oversight over the following areas:

• Delivery/process : Deliver the monthly closing process and ensure accurate Financial and Management Accounting figures by
  • performing key (Sox-) controls implemented and pro-actively assessing risk areas;
  • performing ad hoc analysis / in-depth analytical reviews;
  • providing the specific disclosures supporting Balance sheet and P&L;
  • implementing and executing quality controls (review) over General Ledger and P&L;
  • Explaining evolutions and making sure unusual/special items are processed accurately
  
  

• Change Management: Monitor pro-actively continuous improvements in data and processes and support new product implementations by advising on the consequences for the Finance processes and applications and testing new developments. You know relevant experts and ensure compliancy with regulation.

• Act as a connector and manage business relations with other departments such as Business (Front and Back Office) and Financial Business Advise.

• Be a first contact person for (external) auditors. You ensure quality and correctness of information and replies towards external auditors and regulators.

As Senior Accountant, you need:

• A Master with ideally accounting and/ or audit as specialization
• 5 years of proven experience in accounting
• Knowledge of IFRS and good Bank accounting knowledge is certainly an asset
• Eager to learn and able to work both autonomously and in team
• Good knowledge of English, and of Dutch or French
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Strong communication skills
• To be analytical and multi-disciplinary

• To embraces change and has a strong customer focus.
