Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent area
  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Broad experience across multiple programming languages and frameworks with in-depth skills in React and NodeJS
  • Experience designing and deploying applications on cloud infrastructure (AWS) and container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Experience working with document databases
  • Practiced experience refactoring, design patterns, continuous integration, system and application design, application security and automated testing
  • Practiced experience with agile software development methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to implement creative and effective solutions
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid changes
  • Strong team-player mindset
  • Distinct customer focus and quality mindset
  • Strong command of English language (both verbal and written)

What You’ll Do

You will prototype code, participate in code reviews, groom and implement user stories. You will also help manage the code delivery process and make sure the quality is carried out.

In this role, you will identify and escalate barriers, dependencies and risks and collaborate with business stakeholders to mitigate these risks. Your expertise will expand into Cloud technologies, DevOps and continuous delivery domains.

You will be an active learner, identifying new or better ways to deliver impact with people and technology. You will develop a growth mindset and relish opportunities to use familiar and unfamiliar technologies, closed source and open source software, and develop better approaches to solve business and technical challenges. You will embrace agile software development practices and contribute to growing and improving our engineering organization.

Who You’ll Work With

You will be based in our Brussels or Lisbon office as part of the Wave development team which consists of 25 talented software engineers located throughout Europe. Wave is an established large-scale solution with more than 600 active clients and 150k+ users served by a single application.

Wave equips clients to successfully manage improvement programs and transformations. Focused on business impact, Wave allows clients to track the impact of individual initiatives and understand how they affect longer-term goals. Its mix of an intuitive interface and McKinsey business expertise gives clients a simple and insightful picture of what can otherwise be a complex process by allowing them to track the progress and performance of initiatives against business goals, budgets, and timeframes. You’ll work with a variety of colleagues (development, service delivery, management, client development). They will be based in Belgium and different offices across Europe, India, Costa Rica, Australia US, and beyond. They all have a common passion for digital innovation and smart business processes.
