The Vaccines Product area plays a critical role in the GSK strategy to get ahead of disease. GSK Vaccines has a strong portfolio of commercially launched vaccines, including recently launched vaccines like Shingrix and Bexsero. Additionally, GSK Vaccines has an exciting portfolio of new vaccines in development with significant commercial launches planned over the next 5 years. The Vaccines manufacturing and supply network supports the vaccines product area by sourcing, manufacturing, and supplying our vaccines products to customers globally. This network consists of a large hub site in Wavre and a further 11 manufacturing sites covering North America, Europe, and Singapore. This manufacturing network and organization (12,000 GSK staff) supports approximately £7bn of revenue for GSK and will play an increasingly important role in the new GSK as the vaccine’s portfolio delivers.

The Senior Product Director Vx Quality Tech is accountable for designing and delivering the quality systems product roadmap that support the vaccines functions strategic priorities. The Product Director will work collaboratively with stakeholders to agree on priorities and build plans to deliver against those priorities.


The Senior Product Director Vx Quality Tech will have ownership and responsibility for the product domains within the Quality product suite, including Quality Assurance and Quality Control product areas. This responsibility covers a highly regulated area of operations and expert knowledge of GxP and computer systems validation is critical for the role. This individual is recognized as the go to leader and trusted advisor for their product suite, working collaboratively and adaptively to constantly meet the needs of their customers and deliver value to GSK.

The Senior Product Director Vx Tech Quality responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Technology Strategy & Enablement: in the role of trusted advisor, strong domain knowledge including business process, industry best practices, in market solutions. Accountable for developing and executing 3-year product roadmaps for all products within the product group, in alignment with the Vx Quality strategy and Quality stakeholders. The product roadmaps will be built with a clear focus on value delivery to the Quality strategy and will prioritize investments based on value.
  • Demand management: Collaborate with business stakeholders to manage and prioritize the product backlog to produce the product set with the highest business value. Accountable for the product backlog and product cost forecast.
  • Governance: Establish and lead Business Governance bodies, provide oversight and establish business value, manage overall delivery and service performance and manage business risk. Prepare investments in support of the product roadmap for Technology Review Board governance.
  • Product/Project Delivery: Design and deliver the optimal set of products and services which meets the business strategy and requirements. Accountable for creation and execution of the product roadmap. May complete hands on configuration, providing detailed designs and wider impact assessments. The ability to think big picture and customer first is imperative.
  • Quality, Risk & Compliance: Accountable for ensuring all products within the domain are compliant with internal security and risk management policies and practices, as well as external regulatory and statutory requirements e.g. GxP and that Tech continuity plans are in place for all critical products.
  • Feature Definition: Proven ability to translate customer requests, competitive activities, and industry trends into value drivers of new technology solutions and product requirements that can be easily understood by product teams, developers and other key constituencies within the organization.
  • Process Improvement: Accountable for driving ongoing product and business process improvements, adopting a mixture of waterfall, hybrid and agile methodologies as appropriate.
  • Service Management: Accountable for ensuring any changes are delivered in accordance to the services levels that are in place, to ensure adherence to those SLAs, and directly managing any Level 3 support issues and escalations. Accountable for Lifecycle Management of the product.
  • People Management: Accountable for line managing of the persistent team supporting the product group and ensuring ongoing succession planning to maintain business, through a mixture of GSK employees, augmented/contingent workers and strategic suppliers.
  • Adoption strategy & change management: in the role of change agent, support both the product teams and the business in agile approaches to solution development and adoption, building excitement, momentum, visible success stories and clear value based versions of vision as roadmap plans come to life.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Technical degree eg. Engineering, Information Technology
  • Min. 10 years relevant (e.g. Programme Management, Service Management, Business Partner) experience in major global Tech organization
  • Track record in successful Tech strategy development, solution design, programme and product delivery, service and vendor management
  • Expert knowledge of GxP requirements and computer systems validation is essential.
  • Track record in delivering business impact through process and Tech enabled solutions
  • Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and communication skills
  • Deep content knowledge of respective functional area (business operating models, processes & products)
  • Knowledge and assessment of emerging trends (both functional and technical) within domain
  • Experience and proven track record of working as part of agile development teams
