Strategic Buyer - Procurement Project Specialist (m/v)

The role:

The Strategic Buyer - Procurement Project Specialistis responsible to lead sourcing and procurement activities for the Mechanical Commodities. The specialist must make sourcing recommendations based on a supplier¿s total cost of ownership including technical capabilities. Operational tasks include PO (Purchase Order) Creation and Modification, Material Creation and Modification, work closely with vendors to improve On-Time Delivery, respond to vendor queries, manage blocked invoices, and negotiate with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

¿ Select and manage required suppliers who have the capacity and capability to meet the material and subcontract needs of the business,

¿ Establish and manage key supplier performance goals and objectives consistent with the business strategy and ensuring continuous material supply,

¿ Analyze demand and prices to identify new cost reduction projects,

¿ Analyze technical documentation and apply the needs to the sourcing strategy,

¿ Support R&D in communications to suppliers related to Engineering changes,

¿ Place purchase orders and administrate purchase orders to ensure quality material is delivered on time,

¿ Send the Purchase order to suppliers along with Terms and Conditions,

¿ Receive supplier acknowledgements and ensure the PO (Purchase Order) due dates are accurately maintained in the system,

¿ Perform follow-up on missing Order Acknowledgement dates and educate suppliers to confirm each order in 48 hours from receiving it,

¿ Manage Past due POs by extracting weekly Past due report, identify the Past Due POs and contact the vendors by e-mail/phone to request the order to be delivered and educate suppliers to respect the need by date,

¿ Manage Push-in and Pull-out Purchase Order due dates, as needed, to prevent production disruptions, delays, downtime and excess inventory,

¿ Resolve Supplier delivery problems (late and early receipts) in an aggressive and timely manner and escalate for assistance as required,

¿ Support supplier¿s quality problem resolution. Return defective material to suppliers and issue PO¿s to replace non-conforming material,

¿ Through the analysis of current spend, processes and practices, execute on an overall sourcing strategy that supports the goals of the PMT (Performance Material and Technologies) business supplier consolidation, process standardization, material cost reduction, working capital improvements, and lead time reduction,

¿ Prepare reports for metrics such as OTTR (On Time To Request), Open Orders and fill in the results in the Tier 3 file,

¿ Demonstrate an active commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of Quality, Cost, Delivery and Lead Time,

¿ Willing to travel.

Profil

You are a perfect match if you have:

¿ Bachelor¿s degree, with proven knowledge/experience of/with business administration or Bachelor¿s degree in business administration, with proven knowledge of technical design and engineering,

¿ 3 ¿ 5 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing with a focus in international supply base management,

¿ Dutch and English fluent speaking and writing,

¿ Willingness to commute to the Vilvoorde office,

¿ Ability to work in a cross functional, team-oriented environment,

¿ Superior oral and written communication skills,

¿ Good organizational skills with an ability to prioritize,

¿ Competent appearance, negotiation skills and assertiveness,

¿ Ability to build teamwork to accomplish business objectives,

¿ Rapid problem-solving skills,

¿ Good knowledge in SAP and MS Office (Excel),

¿ Commodity Experience in casting, steel, non-ferrous metal and metalworking required.
