To strengthen our BioTech Clinical Manufacturing Sciences (BCMS)team, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Systems Engineer Bio Pilot Plantfor our Belgian site, in Braine-L’Alleud.


As a
Systems Engineer Bio Pilot Plant, you will identify and foster purposeful partnerships with key scientific influencers to drive new sources of patient value.


You like to work in an environment where you can:


Play an important role in the Systems team, being an active member of the team and being accountable for all aspects related to production planning and technical support of the Biologics Pilot Plant.


You will
contribute by:


  • Managing the technical aspects “related to systems team” on equipment, technical and/or system project, improvement or maintenance. Also, having the overall responsibility of project management for new key systems to be implemented or systems improvement/upgrades. Driving/supporting continuous improvements of equipment, systems and methods in order to maintain business continuity, to have robust operations and to increase UCB’s Biologics Pilot Plant efficiency in delivering drug substance.
  • Scheduling and integrating the technical interventions (e.g. maintenance, metrology, corrective intervention…) into the production planning tool, managing the shutdown operations, participating and leading the associated coordination meetings. Ensuring that projects/technical interventions are initiated at the right time to meet overall project timelines and overall project deliverables.
  • Being the owner (along with the Systems team) of the Production Planning & Scheduling Tools, as well as the various campaign preparation, execution and release tools.
  • Assuming responsibility of the deliverable of project outcomes (effect, lead time, costs)
  • Being the system owner (along with Systems team) and the “super-user” of the dynamic planning software tool (BioG-Emerson) in order to manage and supervise the planning of manufacturing campaigns and the scheduling of associated support activities.
  • Leading coordination and alignment meetings to follow up on various planning related topics with the key stakeholders involved.
  • Acting as a System Owner of different systems supporting the BPP: technical responsible for the good operation of the systems, manage access control, technical issues follow-up.
  • Having a transversal and global overview of the systems and their impact.
  • Creating strong relationship with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Leading by influence technical teams in a transversal management setting.


Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:


  • Master’s Degree or equivalent by experience.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in (bio-)pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and systems, planning management and technical interventions supervision.
  • Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent prioritization and time-management skills to meet agreed timelines in quickly changing contexts.
  • Experienced to work pro-actively to achieve given milestones and objectives.
  • Flexibility to adapt to moving timelines.
  • Able to learn quickly and integrate large amount of information.
  • Proven capability to act in complex and high pace projects and environments.
  • Capacity to supervise technical interventions, including project planning, monitoring, issue resolution, decision making, reporting.
  • Ability to analyze and decompose complex requirements, perform gap analysis and recommend solutions.
  • Good knowledge of automation technologies (PCS7), production software (Unicorn) and dynamic planning software tool (BioG-Emerson).
  • Able to author and approve comprehensive and accurate technology and manufacturing documentation, procedures, specifications and protocols / reports.
